Trades to improve the league-vote for good ones

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:31 pm

I think all these deals make sense, to improve the league overall. I’ve seen versions of these and I think it would help make next season better

1-Simons to Orl for Howard/Den pick
Orl gets a good fit, while Port saves $, gets a prospect and a pick (which could be good next year-low chance but possible). Port also opens up the future for Scoot/Sharpe

2-Lavine to Char for Bertains/Martin/GWilliams/#42
Bulls save a bunch of $ (resigning DDR, PWill and Drummond) and some depth. Char REALLY could use some scoring. This is actually a good lineup. Ball/Lavine/Miller/Bridges/Williams (plus some kids off the bench and the #6)

3-Caruso to Sixers for #16
Caruso helps PG13 to sign (someone else to do the main covers/great teammate and floor spacer). Bulls add Ware/Missi to the #11

4-Lauri to OKC for #12/Dieng/Giddy/Utah pick back/‘26 Clip pick
Utah goes all in for the 2025 tank and adds some interesting pieces. OKC goes for 65 wins next year-they could have REALLY used him this spring to make the Finals

5-Garland for BI/#21
I think this one makes a ton of sense. Move CJ to 6th man. NO still would need a center, but they have assets for that
Clev REALLY balances their team

I’d trade a hyphen for a comma.

I'm not sure how any of these trades improve the league. It's not like there's a Durant on the Warriors team that's playing on cheat mode, but I really like the Caruso trade for both teams (assuming Philly doesn't try to add two max players.)

Don't like the Lauri trade for the Jazz.

I don't see the league getting much from these mid level moves, even less for salary dumps.

The Bulls maybe get a starter in Williams, I don't see Martin even passing up Patrick Williams as a backup to your resigned Demar DeRozan. Bertans is a contract in short pants. So no way the Bulls even think about this.

Caruso for #16 is close, but not more than close with everyone saying how bad this draft is. It's just that his $9 M cap space is hardly anything to cheer about in the Bulls offices. They'd much rather get some young kid who hasn't run out of potential and PHIL has no one like that.

I see OKC and SA as perfect fits for Lauri. Jazz should move him now, while he still has a ton of value

Almost every team is a perfect fit for Lauri. The problem is the Thunder are offering two prospects who currently project as bench players and questionable picks.

THUNDER are already very good and young, only with development will they improve, adding another future maximum contract would complicate them in the long term... I like Giddey for Kuzma... with his decreasing contract and they choose a center in the Draft..

I would send Lauri to the WARRIORS for Kuminga/Moody+3 FRP It's a wild west...

(J.Grant ends up in the Mavs)

trades 1 and 5 seem fine. Ingram is destined to be overpaid imo, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's a turn-off to a lot of prospective teams, but he makes a ton of sense for CLE. for the POR/ORL trade maybe reroute Howard somewhere that actually needs a scoring guard?

2 is okay, something I'd consider maybe at the deadline or next offseason more so than right now, if Mark and Melo can actually make it a couple months without their backs and ankles turning to dust... if they can't and they're absolutely cooked as basketball players, all we're doing is making a bottom feeder more expensive.

4 is atrocious value for Lauri, because Utah can simply choose to keep their 1st by taking a different offer for Lauri and tanking. #12, one LAC pick, and Giddey+Dieng (neither of whom likely has much value, aren't approaching Lauri's value.

for 3, I think #16 is high for Caruso, and I don't know that Philly eats into any of their cap space right now, but that trade wouldn't shock me
