Kuzma a King again, but with Dallas

Post#1 » by jayjaysee » Sun Jun 16, 2024 9:31 pm

This was originally Grant. And probably should’ve stayed him? I have no idea what value Barnes/Huerter should hold. So I offered everything besides Dallas’ first?

Dallas: THJ, Green, Maxi, Powell, Prosper, 2025 Toronto 2nd, 2026 Dallas 2nd, 2028 Miami 2nd
Dallas: Barnes, Huerter

Dallas trades their forward prospect and 3 seconds next year to open almost all of the MLE and improve their top 8 for the two year run. Once you fill the roster spots, they can offer DJJ 12.2~ million first year, that feels enough?

Sacramento: Barnes, Huerter, Sasha, 13th
Sacramento: Kuzma, Maxi, Prosper

Sacramento improves the pairing with Sabonis, while getting paid a prospect to do it. Feel like Maxi would be loved as he is in Dallas. And Kuz is the actual target.. pay Monk, believe in Ellis. Maybe sue the MLE on another guard. Get the depth set before paying Murray in 12 months and going over the tax for a few years.

Washington: Kuzma
Washington: THJ, Green, Sasha, Powell, 13th, 2025 Toronto 2nd, 2026 Dallas 2nd, 2028 Miami 2nd

Washington takes on some salary to get good value for Kuzma. They have a TPE to fit Powell+Sasha’s salary in and he’ll likely agree to a buyout. Green is a bit overpaid but he hustles hard and will be a good influence at least and is still young? THJ is a decent tank commander pairing with Poole.

I think WAS cuts Dallas and deals directly with SAC for the 13th pick plus fodder.

This is a lot of roster turnover. But the question for me to ask is Dallas better off with Barnes/Huerter or Maxi/Green and what else they might could get with THJ/Powell and those assets? Jones being a complicating factor because your scenario opens up the money for him or another full MLE caliber player, but maybe Dallas could still do that with Prosper and 3 2nds attached to the salary filler?

On paper I think Barnes/Huerter are better players than Maxi/Green. So seems like yes Dallas should. But despite his lack of offense and his penchant for injury, the Mavs are just a different team with Maxi available. His ability to guard in space, defend at the rim even on the move with verticality not seen since Roy Hibbert's prime, and just his always being where he is supposed tobe--just so valuable defensively.

IDK jayjaysee, I'm torn on this one. Huerter feels like a boon to the bench. Barnes would be too I guess if Jones is back. Flip a count maybe?
