Grant a Hawk, but with Dallas

Same kind of idea as the Washington one. But pretty different.

Dallas: Green, THJ, Powell, 2025 first (top 4 protected)
Dallas: Hunter, Griffin, Reath

Dallas takes a chance on a sophomore slump Griffin and brings Hunter in hoping the flashes of playmaking/defense can grow more consistent. Griffin had a great rookie year and then I’m not sure what happened? Lowered expectations. This could be an opening the MLE move or could just be opening the MLE for someone else.

Atlanta: Hunter, Griffin, Sac first
Atlanta: Grant and Powell

Atlanta takes on some more salary, but adds a starting forward to pair with Jalen. They can dump Capela or clear salary in the Murray (or Trae) trade. But Grant feels like a good fit who plays defense and can spread the floor enough while being locked up through the pick debt.

Portland: Grant and Reath
Portland: THJ, Green, 2025 Dallas and Sac firsts

Portland gets two firsts for Grant and trims a couple million?

Don't think Dallas owes a first here. Maybe take out Griffin or add a 2nd. But no first.

Yeah, I think Dallas owes something like…. 2-3 seconds for Griffin, 2-3 for Hunter, and 1 for Reath. So just went with a first since stacking all those quarters felt unrealistic.

But maybe overshot it this time.

I too think the 1st is too much here. I don't believe Reath has any real value and Grant's contract pushes his value to neutral at best. Hence PDX should not get two firsts

I don't even send Hunter straight up for Grant

Significantly too much coming back for Grant. I'd start by swapping one of those 1sts for a couple of 2nds and protecting the other more (top-10 at least).

The Sac first is top 12 protected in 2025, top 10 on 2026 and then turns into two seconds.

The Dallas first I went low protection due to there being no potential of roll over. If Dallas can get by with top 10 protection, that would be really protect them in case of a Luka injury. Just don’t see teams letting Dallas do that.

I think it is a bit thin for Hawks, not sure Grant is as much of an upgrade over Hunter that I'd be willing to give SAC pick + Griffin, more so given the difference in contracts (although, I am still pretty high on Griffin, would love to get him for cheap if possible).

Now greedy me kicks in, if Mavs don't have to give up 1st but can do it with 2nds (although I think the 1st is needed here), I'd look to expand it with Griffin + DAL 1st to go after Caruso... maybe even with this deal as it is, adding moving Prosper + Griffin + 2nds can get Dallas Caruso, depending on how much Bulls value Griffin and Prosper.
