No way for the Wizards. No one in their right mind is trading for Lavine given his terrible contract and recent foot surgery. The #11 in this draft is nowhere close to being suitable compensation.

No interest in Randle and giving up 11.

Given Lavine's inability to stay healthy, I'd say that Kuzma is at least as valuable, if not more valuable than Lavine as a basketball player. For argument's sake, let's assume they are roughly equal in terms of on-the-court production.

So effectively, this trade is using the #11 pick to incentivize Washington taking on the salary differential between Lavine and Kuzma. That salary differential is a whopping $25M a year for the next 3 years. The Wizards are being asked to pay $75 MILLION DOLLARS for the #11 pick in a weak draft.

Edit: I guess dumping Holmes has some value, so it's actually like paying $63M dollars for the #11 pick. Which is still pretty insane.

I agree. Kuzma does have a better contract situation, but Randle has much more impact on the court.

If OG has NYK over a barrel and they want mostly salary relief for Randle, there are better deals -- if there were any assurance he'd extend with DET I'd love to have him

On this one, I'm still down for Chicago. Don't like this one for the Knicks as much, but maybe? Agree with those saying this is just too much money to take on for the Wizards. I just don't think LaVine represents a meaningful upgrade over Kuzma. And he and Poole together is just a terrible combination. I don't mind another tanking year, but I'd not want to set up 3 more.

It's a money saving move for the Knicks. Only makes sense if there is a different non Randle trade for a #2 scoring option (ie Bogdonvovic plus Robinson as salary plus picks for star player).

At that point, Kuzma on his contract has value for NY.

I wouldn't mind bringing Kuzma in as an expensive back up so that we were covered if Julius got hurt before the playoffs again...but we can't downgrade our starting lineup like that.
