Expected, but as I always said whenever Dirk re-signed, never take these things for granted. Great deal for the Pacers to not have to give a 5th year and great for Siakam to get his max. And obviously Siakam worked out just as Indy hoped.

Great signing. Love it for both.

Good for the team and the player. Pacers will be a team to be reckoned with for several years.

Reports yesterday were that Indy and Siakam were haggling over guarantees on the final year. Now, if that was a 4th or potential 5th year, I don’t know.

Just happy this is done and locked in. Phew. Summer has to be at least an A- for Indy now….

Pacers have done a very nice job of creating a dual track team imo in short order without a ton of starting assets.

Siakam looked great in Indy, solidly worth it.

Solid contract for the 1 year rental

Wonder how this informs the next Ingram contract

So, resign obi as backup?
Walker could play three but better at four so bidding begins?
Det offers 5 for walker?

Siakam is a better player and more reliable than Ingram...

Why would bidding begin? You don’t ever let an Obi Toppin change whether or not you keep a Jarace Walker. Try and keep Obi affordably, and if you have to bench him for Walker, that’s fine.

Think you’re definitely overthinking this.

Didn’t we just get told this wouldn’t be announced til July 6th?

NBA doesn’t really care and Indy didnt announce it I know..

But congrats Indy fans!

He's also only 26 and while his rep dropped after his poor playoffs last year, his series against the Suns at age 24 he averaged 27/6/6 on 48/41/83 splits being the number 1 guy with Zion out. I think hes been severely underrated and whoever gets him while his reputation is in the gutter will get a steal. I think at his best he's about on the same tier as Jaylen Brown but maybe just a spot or 2 below

Teams have enough of an advantage offering 7.5% annual raises vs 4.5% annual raises that there is enough spread between the guaranteed money that a 5th year isn't needed in most cases.

For Siakiam, there wasn't a better situation to run and take less money.

Good for Indy, good for Siakam. The first major domino of FA falls.

BTW, there were 2 FOs that have generally excelled and were head and shoulders above the rest, Celtics and Thunder, Pacers are joining this tier, all their moves have been home runs since they decided to retool from the Brogdon/Sabonis/Turner team...

Had to look back today to see what Pritchards worst signings have been in Indy. Came up with Kyle O’Quinn and Tyreke Evans on 1 year deals, Doug McDermott on a 3 year (but kind of feel KP is vindicated as SA gave him a raise after the deal ended?), and Jeremy Lamb on a 2 year deal. Bruce brown was maybe the biggest overpay, but only 1 year guaranteed, and seemed to be for a specific reason that ended up working out (as essentially a large salary matching contract).

Everything was MLE money or less. McDermott was the only 3 year deal. Not too shabby.
