Back to Kuzma to Chicago, Caruso to Dallas

Tried to make it bigger this time because I like Kispert in Dallas. Probably a bad idea for all three teams?

Chicago: Vucevic, Caruso, Ball, 11th
Chicago: Kuzma, Gafford, Green

Chicago gets younger and bigger. They can keep chasing the play-in for a year. Or can trade both guys midseason and rebuild. But the team feels much better balanced starting Gafford, Kuzma, Patrick, Demar and Coby/Zach. Or bringing Patrick off the bench so Coby/Zach can both be called starters. Whichever way they choose to go. Patrick still needs to play some minutes at the four behind Kuzma to best maximize the rotation, but not all of his minutes.

Dallas: Gafford, THJ, Green, 2025 first unprotected
Dallas: Vucevic, Caruso, Kispert

Dallas gets the wing defender and shooter they need. Costs them a first and their 48 minute rim protection. But should open the MLE if they can dump Powell using seconds after this deal.

Washington; Kuzma, Kispert
Washington: Ball, THJ, 11th, 2025 Dallas first

Washington might need to add a vet min here as they take on 8 million dollars. But they get a late lottery pick for Kuzma and a future pick for Kispert. Feels like a win.

Not intrested in switching gaff for vuc. Mavs didnt play well until they had 48min of rimprotection. Changing that just to get a bigger name is just not the way to go

Vucevic is the third most important piece returned to Dallas here so I don’t see this as a Gafford for Vooch trade.

Gafford isn’t quite worth Caruso.

He’s probably worth a bit more than Kispert (IMO as always)

One positive impact player for two positive impact players, with a side of Green for Vuc for roster balancing after the trade.

The motivation here is not to get Vuc for Gafford--that is part of the cost.

CHI should be able to do better than this.

I don't think the Bulls want Gafford back nor does he want to return, no evidence since this never comes up.

I think it's nice to give up Vucevic. I don't think Green has any potential left, he appears to be the player he is, which isn't very much. There's no way the Bulls go from wishing for 2 FRPs in exchange for Caruso to actually giving their only pick in a 3 year stretch to move him. Seriously that is bordering on nuts. The Bulls lineup you propose has either DeRozan or Lavine as the PG, you couldn't find anybody who has been an NBA fan for more than 15 minutes to think that's any king of idea. I mean it doesn't even rise to being a bad idea, it's that awful. Two dedicated isolation scorers distributing the ball, You thought that up?

And Kispert. And Vuc as a backup center. And the MLE.

Unprotected because it has to be because of future owed picks. But Dallas was just in the Finals. Unless Luka misses the bulk of the season, that's not likely going to be a lottery pick. So once we assign a reasonable guess as to the value of the pick, it can't be that bad value wise.

I'm not a huge fan of this deal myself, but I'm lower on Caruso than most and I'm concerned if Dallas could pay both Caruso/Kispert in a year. But the value isn't terrible for Dallas or anything.

I don't think this is bad at all. Nice framework, and totally realistic with a few tweaks.

Love it for DAL and I like it for everyone, but 0 chance this happens, one of the prizes for the Bulls is a guy they threw away for free, their pride won't allow them to do it.

And now u have to change playstyle every time you change center again, so u basicly **** up what in the end made the team good.

It's fair from Washington's perspective. I'd decline because I like Kispert and would prefer to see him resigned than trade him for a very late 2025 pick. But reasonable people can differ with me on that. Objectively, the value is fair.

I think it's a huge mistake for Chicago to go this direction. A full tear down is necessary on their end. I'd let DeRozan and Pat walk, let Lonzo play out his last year, trade Caruso for any value I could get, try to flip Vuc to any team willing to give an expiring.

That said, this is probably in the realm of what i'd expect them to do. And post trade that roster is much better. A lot of guys who want to score in Coby, Zach, Kuzma, Demar, but it should at minimum be an exciting team to watch with a solid chance at a lower seed.

For Dallas I like it. Caruso is another perimiter defender who can take the toughest matchup. Vuc is still a capable scorer, Kispert is a legit shooter. It addresses a lot of needs.

My deal is easier, but also bad for Bulls (who need to rebuild, but should AT LEAST pick BPA at #11 and hope for a star).

Kuzma/#26 for Ball/JCarter/#11

Wash gets a nice pick for Kuz-Carter is a harmless price for 2 years as a bench guard.

Bulls ride the treadmill hard

I don't think this is terrible tbh. Take out the #26 and it's a deal.

Add in some 2nds going to Washington for taking on that 2nd year of Carter and seems about right. I disagree that #26 should come out. I think Chicago should still get to have a first round contract added this year. 11 is probably about the best single asset possible for Kuzma so kicking a bit back to get it seems right.

Shrugs..

pipfan wrote:I don't endorse this trade that someone suggested, but if the Bulls aren't going to rebuild, why not

LBall/JCarter/#11 pick for Kuzma and the '24 and '25 Suns second round picks

Wash gets a 2nd lotto pick to build with

Chi gets a solid starter who can score. Helps them "win now", which seems to be the plan.

All just my opinion here..

If Chicago turns this down because Gafford has improved the last 3 years, their entire situation is as bad as some pretend.

And if Chicago is actually willing to enter a rebuild, obviously this is a terrible idea for them…

I definitely like this better for Chicago than the other teams.
