Musical Chairs - Kings & Jazz

by The Beam King
John Collins
Jordan Clarkson

For

Harrison Barnes
Kevin Huerter
Sasha Vezenko

Who says no? What tweaks need to be made to grease the wheels here?

Both teams move I'll fitting contracts/parts for different fitting contracts and parts.

The Kings aren’t getting any better.

Probably #10 to Sacramento. Maybe #10 and #29 to Sac with #13 to Utah?

Feels like a deal where both sides are kinda over their guys and would be keen to try out some others. I think knowing Utah could flip Barnes and/or Huerter for an expiring makes it an easy yes for them whether they want to compete now or play for next year. I could see them adding some minor value here.

I like Harrison a fair amount (he was a good dude back in HS), but I'm not really interested in the deal past paying a 2nd or something.

Getting our preferred guy in the draft is worth more to me than any player quality improvement here.

This makes it interesting.

Keep Clarkson out of it. Barnes/Vezenkov for Collins.

Keep Barnes out do Huerter/Vezenkov/2nd rounder if needed, this helps our bench with a Barnes/Lyles big rotation.

I could awe this iteration making sense too.

Is straight up a fair swap?

Yeah it could go that way. So Lyles won't get minutes then. Barnes can't play the 3 and Brown just showed he doesn't play Lyles as a small ball 5 any more.

This. I could see us adding 32 to the deal, maybe with a future 2nd or 2, but that's it.

In this scenario I'd envision Barnes #13= being used towards a different target

I’d say that if you add 10 and 29 for 13 and 45 that it’s basically an even deal.

Utah gets off money earlier and both teams get pieces that fit better and should give at least some improvement to each team.

There was a thread a while back that suggested the Jazz weren't super thrilled with Hendricks on draft day last year. Any truth to that? If so, I might try and sneak in a 13 for Hendricks swap - he seems like a pretty ideal theoretical fit with Sabonis.

I think we wouldn't have drafted him where we did if he weren't the first player on our board at that position. I do think we hoped anyone drafted before him had dropped to us, but he has been very interesting. I'm somewhat neutral on swapping 13 for Hendricks, but I don't see Utah adding substantial value to the OP to make it happen. No way are we moving down from 10 to do it - even if that is fair value.

Oh yeah I don't think #10 is in play here. I had envisioned something like Barnes/Vezenkov/#13 for Collins/Hendricks

I don't think our FO would be interested. If we made the swap my reaction would be "yah, sure, go draft the best wing available" because there are some nice ones in the draft ... but I'd also be just as happy to keep him.

Add 29/32 for 45.

Deal.

Might be more like add #32 for the '25 Portland 2nd if the Jazz want to roll a pick to next year.
Hendricks would be a great addition to the Kings. I feel like out of all the prospects from like 4-14 he is the one that gets underrated and IMO he's going to be an AS type player in 3-4 years.
I would do that trade, particularly if my new rose coloured glasses guy in Kel'el Ware is off the board at #13.

Barnes/Vezenkov/#13/'25 Port 2nd for Collins/Hendricks/#32

If Utah want to put together #10/#13/#29 to move up into maybe Detroit at #5 or Charlotte at #6 to grab Clingan or Castle that would be the idea.
I don't see many better fits next to Sabonis than Hendricks. He isn't ready yet, but as I mentioned I think he projects to be an AS type 4 that can shoot and play excellent D.

Edit: Forgot to add, draft Ryan Dunn (#32) and Ulrich Chomche (#45) unless someone falls which is going to happen.

There is just no way we'd do that.
