PG looks like he is leaving the Clippers one way or another.
Clippers trade PG/Westbrook
OKC trades Jalyn Williams, Dieng, Wallace, K. Williams (group of role players), and return 25/27 Clippers picks.
OKC goes in heavy while still keeping their core.
Clippers are losing PG so a return of their picks is great for them.

OKC can just dump some salary to sign PG outright and keep wallace + picks

OKC just trades Dort into cap space and signs PG. This ask is very unwarranted for a team that can easily find a way to sign him.

Clips can't aggregate salaries, but with OKC's cap sheet that's an easy fix.
Don't see OKC offering the 25 first back, but if they did, Frank would have to take this imo. Would look to immediately dump Kenrich. But, as stated, OKC has no reason to help the Clips.
Also, no way Cason is included.
Figure best case scenario for Frank would be Dieng, JWill, 25 turns into a swap, 27 turns into a swap and a few seconds.

Presti easily hangs up the phone. Zero, absolutely zero reason to do this.

The Clippers should jump on this if offered to them. At that point, they should also look to see what they get for Kawhi Leonard and let James Harden walk in Free Agency, which will enable them to tank for Cooper Flagg. With that said, this is not likely to happen since the Thunder can simply move a couple of salaries around to sign PG without talking to the Clippers at all if they choose to do so.

With OKC cap space, I can’t figure out why they would give any picks at all. If anything, the Clips would send OKC picks to get something back in a PG trade.
Otherwise we can get picks (even if low value) elsewhere and open up cap space.

if clips remain in 2nd apron they can't get back any contracts in an outgoing S&T

Imo if it's an opt in and trade, PG for Dort, 2 protected 1sts

The opt-in rumor hints at PG wanting to end up somewhere that can’t just dump Dort and sign him.
But also.. it all feels to me like it’s just smoke. PG wants Ballmer to give him a real max, not to take a discount. Just letting everyone know it’s not just OKC, Det, Philly..
But signing Paul George and improving the quality picks LAC gives would be fun for Presti.

No it hints at him not liking teams with cap space why would he care of a role player isn’t there

I tried rereading my post to understand what you misunderstood. And I don’t see how?
If PG wants to go to OKC, there’s no reason to do an opt in. You just let Presti trade Dort+12th for 3 future firsts and sign with OKC.
It doesn’t make much sense to do an opt in and extend to a team that can easily create max cap space and sign him.
I think he’s just getting that extra 3-4 million a year out of Ballmer here. And will. But it’s fun to think about other options

I might be wrong but I thought OKC only needs to clear out $15m more/less to sign PG outright? Then no trade or S&T is even needed.

Dort, the 25 and 27 firsts turning into swaps instead of straight up to OKC I could live with.. maybe trying to sneak in Dieng.

George is likely to want to shop around to some of his ideal teams and that means he will likely opt in with the goal of getting a maximum extension and being traded to another team. Maybe he will end up in OKC, but he will want to see about some other contenders also and its no guarantee. If PG goes this path, LAC will need real value in exchange and OP idea is a decent start.
If PG opts out and cannot make an arrangement with PHI, ORL or OKC (for the absolute max they can pay), or they decide to go another direction, PG could be left without a chair when the music stops, and without bird rights. Since he can't even discuss the matter with these teams prior to making his opt in / out decision, I just cannot see him taking the risk of opting out.
