Yes. This would make sense from WAS perspective in such scenario.

Houston might not take Clingon, but definitely a danger to trade the pick to a team that wants him. So Washington would need to be okay going down for just that pick without getting him specifically.

I dont think Wahsington should have to take on Graham for no real reason, otherwise makes sense

I uhh…wouldn’t trust the Bulls enough to trade that pick. It could be a very good pick.

it's top 10 to top 8 protected from 2025 to 2027, then turns into 2nds. If the Bulls are starting a tank job now, that pick doesn't really have a great chance to even convey. If it does, it'll be nice for the Wizards, but it's far from a guarantee they'll see anything for that trade down.

I counted Graham as a slight positive for Wash, to boost their return a bit. He was an afterthought here

I really struggle with whether that Bulls pick conveys next summer. Even with the new lottery odds, it's not difficult to retain a top 10 pick. Caruso was the best defender and they traded him for a guy who has a long way to go on that front. They could lose P. Williams this summer. The Bulls could easily roll out a bottom 3 defense this season.

Ah, nvm. That’s not quite as appealing. I took OP at face value and thought it was top 5 protected. Now that would be a tough pick to trade away.

Rather than dealing with the uncertainty of that Chicago pick, I'd like it better if the Wizards got something like "the best Spurs 2025 FRP that falls outside of the top 10," or something like that.

The Spurs have their own pick, the Atlanta pick, the Chicago top 10 protected pick, and the Charlotte top 14 protected pick. I'm not asking for a particularly high pick, but I just don't want the uncertainty of having a pick that never conveys.

Also, I meant Branham, not Graham, as a sweetener for Wash. Graham is clearly a negative-not sure how good Branham is but Wash could take a look

First of all, I wouldn't do this deal at all for the Spurs, not even to move up from 8 to 1, that Bulls pick is probably better that the 2nd pick in this draft outright. But if you were to make a trade, this is closer to a future lottery protected pick when the Spurs are good, or a couple of 2nd round picks. Moving a high potential pick to move up 2 spots in a flat and underwhelming draft sounds crazy to me, and it should be telling that it's never a Spurs fan proposing a deal like this to move up. Wizards can go ahead and make their pick.

Really disagree-seems that Sarr/Risacher are the two top prospects, both French, and fit with Wemby. SA needs a 3 man of the future, and Risacher seems like a perfect fit for them.

I think this is totally fair.

San Antonio paying a pick to move up two spots would only be palatable if they really, really wanted the guy the Wizards selected at #2. I don't think the talent differential between #2 and #4 is all that great so my guess is that San Antonio would not be motivated to sacrifice so much to move up. They would just take the next-best guy on their draft board and move on.

Nah. I wouldn't give up the 2025 Bulls 1st to move up 2 spots. Unless the Spurs are absolutely in love with Risascher (I don't think they are) I see no reason to pay assets to move up 2 spots in a flat draft.

If your assessment were true this draft wouldn't be as widely perceived as a crap shoot, I'll take a late lottery pick in '25 or '26 over the 2nd pick in this draft. I would also say, there's a pretty good chance if Sarr goes first Risacher drops down to 4 without the Spurs needing to to anything. Spurs should stand back and wait for the best player to drop to 4, there's plenty of guys in the same level to the point where it's hard to decide who is the better prospect (Castle, Sheppard, Risacher, etc).
