Nets trade: DFS
Nets get: THJ/Jerome/#20
Cavs trade: Niang/Jerome/#20
Cavs get: DFS
Mavs trade: THJ
Mavs get: Niang
Cavs get a good defender who can play both forward spots and make corner 3's
Nets rumored to want a pick in the 20's so they get the best one and clear more space for 25.
Dallas trims payroll this year and picks up a shooter by taking on the future money the Nets don't want.

Depends on if the Cavs are willing to go into the tax to take the extra money. If they do, this is a pretty good deal, but if not, this might simplify to LeVert/#20 for DFS. But that's less likely with Atkinson at the helm.

I have LeVert more useful to the Cavs than Niang. I can't speak to the tax issue though. I would hope if Mitchell signs out they are willing to spend to support a good team, but I can't assume that.

solid trade, this is exactly the type of thing i expect the Nets to do if they cant find a better use of DFS (which i think could go either way).

saddens me to see a DFS in deal involving Dallas but ends up somewhere else instead. I like it for all parties

I think the issue is starting the repeater tax a year early. Once Mobley's extension kicks in, we're a tax team for the foreseeable future. Also, this is the last first we'll have for 5 years so the Cavs might want that cost-controlled player.
I'd do still do it though. Not sure the Nets will trade DFS to Cavs before Mitchell actually signs though.

Dallas take on extra money with no picks come back .

Yes and no. Dallas takes on money for the 25-26 season, but sheds salary for the 24-25 season which will help to open up the MLE as opposed to the TMLE. Dallas cares more about saving the money this year and Brooklyn cares more about the following year which is why Dallas is included. If Brooklyn didn't care about the cap space in a year, I agree no need for Dallas. But they do. So they help each other out.

Feel like the Nets would rather hang on to DFS.

Dont mind this one for Dallas. But feel like they can extract a 2nd of some kind from Cle. Doesnt have to be a good one, but something to add to the barren cupboard for taking on an extra year.

DFS is fine, but if CLE is just adding shooters, they should shoot for better than 35%.
Looking forward to who is available for them at 20, they don't have many options for cost controlled youth in the next few years. I think this pick is worth more to them than it would be to teams that haven't mortgaged their future.
