Knicks' remaining picks. What can they get?

#24,
#25,
#38,
future DET 1st (top 13 to top 9 protected in 2027, otherwise high 2nd),
future WAS 1st (top 10 prot in 2025, top 8 prot in 2026, otherwise high 2nds),
swap rights on of 2026/2028/2030 1sts,
2025 BRK 2nd (high),
several less valuable 2nds

There's a decent volume of picks, but Nothing particularly eye-popping in terms of talent, though the DET and WAS firsts at least have a chance to convey if they have a couple good offseasons and start to improve, possibly yielding late lotto picks when those teams are finally on the upswing. The later swap rights in 2028 and 2030 could have decent mystery box value.

Could New York stack even more talent on this already solid team?

Is Lauri Markkanen possibly in play?

No, Lauri is not in play. Best bet is to keep those picks and try to hit on young, cheap talent.

No, Lauri would require a Bridges type trade.

This is the Knicks team. Hopefully it’s good enough

Going to be real fun sending an unprotected 2031 first across the river when Brunson is 34 and OG/Bridges are making close to 100mm combined.

All for a team that pencils to be the third best team in the conference at best

I think some of those picks are going to be needed to move Randle which should be one of their top priorities this summer.

What salaries are they willing/able to send out? Randle, maybe Robinson?

Are you saying that Randle is a negative asset? I can assure you he’s not

No one said he was negative.

I should have worded that differently.

I think you add picks to Randle for a better fit player(s).

I agree. Randles contract is also easy to move.

I wish there were an easy, obvious answer for a top-10 starting center that didn't add to their payroll. I think they end up resigning IHart and dumping Robinson into someone's cap space.

Not quite top 10 but i like a randle to 3rd team, poeltl to them and assets to toronto trade

Knicks need someone else who can create a shot. Brunson is great, but we saw in the playoffs his efficiency suffers when teams know he's the only threat to create anything. OG, Bridges, DDV all nice tertiary scorers but all limited. If they move Randle, they need someone else to help Brunson, not a defensive center imo.

I think it would be a bad idea to trade Randle. He's a good player, certainly much better than Poeltl. I wouldn't mind Jakob for them, though.

Jarrett Allen maybe?

I don't really see a deal there unless Cleveland wants Randle (which, that actually could be really interesting) or DDV + picks (but it seems like part of the point is to bring together the Villanova guys).

Yeah it’s looking like they’ll lose ihart based on what insiders are saying on twitter tonight.

I think if they can move Randle for poeltl plus assets they should do that. They can’t go into next season with Mitchell Robinson as their starting center with his injury history.

I kinda like that fit for the cavs if they lean into Mobley at 5. Randle is a great rebounder at the 4 and can provide more shooting and creation.

Well said TC. This is why Bridges wasn’t the guy to go all in on. And frankly, why this roster wasn’t good enough to go all in on.

Randle needs to be that guy. The path to upgrade from him is externally limited - for the next 7 years. Not to mention the lack of size this roster had which will be worse without Hartenstein and no roster flexibility.

Bridges is a great fit for sure, but the Knicks paid a top-10 price for a top 30 player that wasn’t a top-30 player away from being a real contender. We have seen this so many times with this franchise.

Such a long way away from 12 months ago with a ton of draft picks and young affordable players. Not sure we are closer to a championship with the lack of flexibility

I don’t know how they would do it but if they somehow got Dejounte Murray man oh man.
