I think it does. You can't really turn down 2 1sts for Kuzma.

This has way more value than the Sac Filler + #13, and you said you would do that.

Washington could probably package #22 and #26 to get up to the low teens.

From a fan’s standpoint, you are right. But GMs rarely have the job security to value a pick 7 years down the road.

Again, to the Wiz, Avdija is a difference maker, not a role player. They aren't going to trade him for this little. And that's without giving up Butler and 3 2's and eating Nurkic's salary.

Would it get Kuzma? Make the offer and we will see. Basically if I'm the Wiz I shop Kuzma around the league and take the best offer to free up PT for Avdija and Coulibaly to see what they can become if given primacy. If this is the best offer, I take it.

I honestly think they will hold onto the 2031 pick and try to flip it at the deadline. This was the only player I could even find who I would be willing to trade that pick for. And even this is a maybe.

lol, suns can’t even trade for Kuzma. But two firsts clears the Kuzma threshold by a decent margin.

I disagree with this take. I could argue it helps secure their job as the asset matures.

Deni has more offensive upside and is cheaper for longer, so is worth more. Dort is the better defender/lower usage guy which suits phoenix more

I don’t think Kuz gets two firsts. #22 might be a little bit lite but not much. But like I said, Suns can’t even do that. Demi was the only acquisition I could find at that number that would be worth that 31 pick.

That’s fair. I have it based more on physical size than the minimal difference between the contracts and in this can I think Phoenix would value him more too.

I'm assuming you aren't aware that Avdija blew up last season. Since February, he has averaged 19/9/4 on .604 TS% while playing borderline elite defense. He's actually been producing like that most of the season, but they were playing him 27 minutes a game in the first half of the season rather than the 35 he deserves. The second half of the season demonstrated that the production was legit over 35 minutes. His per-minute production actually improved with more minutes.

And his production wasn't just empty stats. When Avdija was on the court, he had the horrific Wizards roster playing like a respectable 37-win team (going by on/off differential). When he was off, they played like a 10-win team. And Avdija is locked into the best non-rookie contract in the league that pays him just $13M a year.

Here is a per-36 minute comparison of Avdija and Mikal Bridges. Mikal Bridges was just traded for 5 FRP's, 4 of them unprotected.



And here is a per-36 minute comparison of Avdija versus Scottie Barnes. Barnes just signed a max contract. Avdija will cost $32M less per season than Barnes. $32 million a year!



So, no. The Wizards aren't trading Avdija for what amounts to a single FRP. (I'm assuming that Butler and the 2 SRP's the Wizards are sending out plus the cost of absorbing Nurkic's contract is worth the price of the #22 pick alone. So effectively the Wizards are trading Avdija for a single FRP 7 years down the road.)

Factoring Avdija's age, contract, and the fact that he is improving, I would honestly expect a trade package similar to what the Knicks just gave Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges. THAT'S how far off this trade proposal is.
