What a horrid contract. At least the Knicks will be fun to watch.

Very good looking lineup...question will be their depth and big men, as it will be nearly impossible to keep Hartenstein.

And people thought Jerami Grant's contract was going to be bad

So long as he can play 65 games a season.

Only has done that once in the last 4 seasons.

My guess is that the next move for the Knicks will be offloading Mitch Robinson's contract so they can re-sign Hartenstein as well (probably attaching picks to do so). They'll layer that deal into the Bridges deal as a 3-teamer, which means that they'd be sending out more money (Bogi+Robinson) than they're taking back (just Bridges). So instead of being hard capped at the 1st apron, they'd be hard capped at the 2nd apron.

That means they can re-sign Achiuwa who was pretty solid for them as well.

Brunson / McBride
Bridges / DDV
OG / Hart
Randle
Hartenstein / Achiuwa

That's my prediction for the rest of their offseason, but we'll see.

Would have been tragic to trade all that for Bridges just to let an equal player walk for free.

Called this months ago. Seems expensive now. Will definitely look expensive later.

So essentially 5 first rd picks plus Mitchell Robinson and Quentin Grimes (how NY got Bogdonovic) plus whatever draft capital they have to include with Mitch because they backed themselves into a corner with Bridges/hard cap.

It's like paying for a Ferrari and getting a & series BMW

Yeah, pretty much had to happen.

Now it's just getting the contract details working with the new CEA rules.

I think they have a legitimate chance to get to and win the Finals. I still have them behind BOS in the East and a few teams out West but it's a legitimate shot.

They still have a good amount of draft capital so it's not like they totally sold out. Sure they could have waited it out for maybe some better players, but I think this is a group worth going for it with.

I like all of the moves they've made individually since the deadline...but in the aggregate for some reason it feels underwhelming. Maybe I'm underestimating Randle and/or Bridges' ability to be a second option on offense, but it seems like this team doesn't have enough firepower and has no assets to get more.

This is a great way to put it.

It's one thing to pay Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum a combined $100MM per year. It's another to pay Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby $85MM per year - while giving up all your picks for the right to do so.
