Nets (for their rebuild) get
Bertans expiring
Micic (2 years)
Heat 1st
Hornets make use of spare parts in their quest to build culture and respectability get:
Cam Johnson (3 years)
What do yall think? Can the Nets get multiple firsts for Cam Johnson or just one?
Does Charlotte throw in a bundle of second rounders?

I think they would want more. Bertans, Mann or Smith Jr., and at least the Miami first. Might ask for the Dallas pick too. Maybe a handful of seconds.

Yeah, I can imagine being in rebuild they want to collect assets for Mikal and Cam.
Hornets willing to attach Heat 1st & Mavs 1st? No NSJ.
Who beats 2 firsts for Cam. Lakers?

If you get 2 firsts and an expiring contract for Cam Johnson you take that.

not sure what protections are on the picks, but 2 firsts should be the price, only issue is the nets have so many picks they may prefer teams who can offer them a player they like on a rookie deal. I would imagine something like Tre Mann and a first would be a very competitive offer though.
i'd imagine Lakers willing to offer 1 FRP and JHS - and that's the deal others have to beat.
Indiana was supposedly interested and while I doubt they will, if they put one of their rookie scale guys on the table that's going to be hard to beat even if there's no other pick.

Lakers don't have an easy way to match salary.
Probably would prefer to keep rui for the rotation, so would have to be Gabe + Vando + JHS + the pick. Not sure Lakers would offer that for Cam honestly, And Nets would probably prefer expiring if possible, no? hard gauge

Lots of teams would have interest and Charlotte just drafted a big forward who can shoot. I’d probably try to fill out the roster with less expensive pieces that will help them win more games and build a better culture.

The OP is good enough for Brooklyn. They don’t need more. If Cam returns a first it should be a projected late one without much variance IMO so I’m not sure he is worth the first in OP, definitely not worth adding another one.
But I don’t expect Charlotte to not pay Bridges. And then you don’t trade for Cam in general.

If the offers don't get better than that the Nets can just keep Cam until someone gets eager to improve at the trade deadline.
As we get closer to the post season someone is going to see that one of their rivals is better than them and that getting Cam is more important than draft picks if getting a chip is their goal.

Even after considering salary matching and tax apron consideration ?

I am willing to surrender Tre Mann plus Miami Heat lottery-protected first. Filler - Bertans expiring. I would add multiple second round picks if I need separation.
And yes, I still make the trade if Miles is retained. We will still fall below the tax.

That’s what I was looking at.
With Bridges/Miller starting - Charlotte should be happy with Grant and Salaun as the first two forwards off the bench. Hoping Salaun comes in and forces Grant out of the rotation mostly.. Spend the money on a center to split minutes with Mark or a shooting guard?
But if the idea is Bridges leaves, Cam makes a lot more sense.

Very good point. Trades become more difficult in the season with 15 man limits and trade restrictions, etc. Plus, we generally find that trades return a little less value in season than in the summer, as teams want guys for a full camp, and to get a full season of production out of them.

It's hard to predict how the market evolves within new CBA, but there are teams right now who are planning to go free agents similar to camj, be it caleb martin or whoever, that will miss out. I think that is the holding pattern sellers like Nets are in right now.
What's fortunate for the nets (i think) is that they have 2 such players at different $ with DFS/CamJ. So depending on how the market evolves they have options.
I also think it's possible the Nets initiate a S&T using DFS by trying to poach a younger FA/RFA and then leveraging a S&T for that player. They have their full NTMLE at 12.8m and can use it while staying under luxury tax, do they offer it multi-year to Okoro to try to jam up CLE? Or Obi/IND? Or DJJ/Dallas? Naji Marshall? Would any of those teams prefer DFS on his 1 year to maintain flexibility vs a multi-year deal for a likely bench player?

I think this is a solid return and Cam Johnson is a good fit in Charlotte. It also helps to take Charlotte out of the Cooper Flagg race.
Maybe there’s a third team who would give a 2nd for Micic as a backup PG on a reasonable deal?

How much does Micic make? Assuming we don't end up with CP3 on our roster one way or another, I'd be pretty happy to flip GP2 and a 2nd (maybe 2) for him.

We don't expect Salaun to make an impact, being very raw and young for this draft class. He's a development project. Cam Johnson has 3 years on his deal. Seems a reasonable timeline for him.
Miller can play 2 or 3
LaMelo
Miller
Miles
Cam
M. Williams

I like it, but would not give up more than 1 FRP if I’m Charlotte. I’d take that if I’m BRK but would see who else could offer more (OKC for example)

Cam J is going to be a microcosm of the Bridges trade. Every talking head and fan is going to scoff at him returning big value and is going to roast Marks for turning down what seem like some good deals and then he’s going to get a big return either this coming deadline or draft night ‘25.
Vague rumor out there is he turned down the following during the 1st round(main assets):
13th and Davion Mitchell
17th and Rui/JHS
2 future protected Denver picks and Braun
Who knows if true, but it doesn’t seem that crazy if Nets brass didn’t love anyone available at 13 and 17, and the protections on the Denver picks was restrictive and matching salary filler was bad. Bad draft or not, they show at the deadline they’ll probably be able to secure a pick likely to be very late lotto to late teens in a better ‘25 draft and a pick with reasonable protections and reasonable expectations to be the same in ‘27, with expiring filler, or a contract that ends by summer of ‘26, or a pick and a miscast high upside 1st rounder rotting on a bench from the ‘22 or ‘23 drafts.
