Wow.

I mean I guess Quickley kinda had Toronto over a barrel because they weren't going to let him walk after he was the centerpiece of the OG deal, but....this seems like a LOT.

Thats quite the bag for a player of IQ's talent. I know they had to do it, but way too rich IMO. If worse comes to worse, let another team set the market and match the 4 year offer

Horrendous overpay. Hope everyone sees it for what it is and it doesn't break the market.

So would you rather have Jerami Grant or Quickley?

Ha, whats the exchange rate on that?

Puts it back into the $25m/year range instead of the $35m/year range.

I would like to tell a whole lot of people here who keep repeating themselves

Zach Lavine's contract, for a guy who is a 2 time all star, starter his whole career and scores 10ppg more than Quickly, is not so God awful that somebody needs extra to take it

Gotta wait and see if this includes unlikely bonuses, unguaranteed money, team options, etc. but if this is a straight up 5 year fully guaranteed deal...yikes

This is about 21.3 percent of the cap if normal ascending (starting at just over 30M). I wonder if we could make it flat instead though. Not terrible if he can prove to be a 3rd option starter or better. By the last few yrs it will be <20% of the cap

Assuming 10% annual increases in the salary cap because of the new media deal, Quickley's % of the salary cap according to spotrac is as follows :
21.4%
21.0%
20.5%
19.9%
19.3%

If he plays like a below average starting-level guard, it's a bad deal

If he plays like an average starting-level guard, it's a good deal

If he improves to a top 10-15ish (starting) point guard, it's a great deal

Decent gamble for Toronto. I'd have preferred if they would have made it flatter and/or more front-loaded, but it is a reasonable risk given what IQ has looked like in a small sample size as a starter
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Man, Knicks dodged a bullet here. IQ & RJ make on average like 50% more than OG, and Mikal & OG combined are superstar money like AD/KD… but I’d rather have Mikal & OG than one of them.

I’ve been very critical of the moves that Leon Rose has made over the past 12 months. But OG Anunoby at $42.5mm per year is a much better investment than Immanuel Quickely at $35MM per year.

Still wish we had Barrett though. Love that player.
