WOJ - THJ for Grimes

Post#1 » by R-DAWG » Fri Jun 28, 2024 2:20 pm

Dallas sending 3 2nds, including a 2025 TOR 2nd, along with Hardaway to DET for Grimes.

Love this move for Dallas. Great buy low opportunity on Grimes and gets them under the apron to keep DJJ

I don’t know about him being an upgrade, but dollar for dollar he sure is. Making room to sign Jones is huge.

Yeah I'm way lower on Grimes than most, but even if he's barely a rotation guy, considering what salary dumps were going for yesterday this is a real win for Dallas. And if Grimes can compete with Josh Green for minutes even better.

Don't love an off-season that is bringing back Derrick Jones and adding Grimes so I hope they can do a little something else. But realistically this is about the best I thought Dallas could do.

Yeah I edited that out, I think I overstepped.

I understand the 25 Toronto second could be a good second but 3 seconds to dump Reggie's contract a bit over $5M and also 3 seconds to dump the $12M salary difference here and also get grimes who is at least worth something. Detroit continues to take on salary dumps for poor value

Love this for Dallas. They got a player with upside and dumped money without having to burn a 1st. Excellent work.

Detroit... not so much. If you're downgrading and letting the other team save money, gotta get a 1st.

I have Grimes definitely better than THJ and should steal minutes from Green as he's a better defender and has a better track record as a shooter.

Strap in Pistons fans.

It’s going to be a long, disappointing offseason…

I’m so sick of this team accumulating cap space only to sell it for bottomed out prices. We’ve been doing it for years…

I like it for Dallas. They free up some money for DJJ and got a young player in Grimes that I still have some hope for and it only cost them 3 second round picks. Not sure why Detroit did it. I guess they added some experience but their capspace doesn't seem to be as valuable as some think. I just don't think it is a great year for them to have a ton of money to spend. I hope they received some decent second round picks in the package.

Maybe im wrong for it, but i would think instantly dumping 16mill in salary would cost a 1st. And they got (arguable) better, younger rotation player back while coming off of THJ's salary

I feel like that should cost more than a few 2nd's

Fair trade, Grimes was very good in his 2nd year, last year he sucked, I lean towards DET insisting Mavs take him rather than Mavs wanting him.
