Tucker/Coffey/2031 1st to Detroit
I’ll offer this idea for clippers to dump salary in an effort to offer more to Paul George if need be if they have a certain 2nd apron tax threshold
To Detroit
-P.J. Tucker (1 year, $11.5 million)
-Amir Coffey (1 year, $3.9 million)
-2031 1st round pick
To LAC
-2031 2nd round pick
Why?
Clippers dump 2 contract they can replace with VM players and create more flexibility if they want to make a bigger offer to Paul George to retain him
Pistons sell cap space for and 2nd for a 1st as Tucker could help leadership wise for half a season then seek buyout to join contender and Coffey gives them depth at the wing spot

Can't see this making sense for the Clippers.

Yeah, this would be a hard pass from the Clips.
Using Tucker to get a two/three year similar salaried player holds value due to the restrictions and Amir is one of the better JAGs out there imo

Not that Clips should do it, but yes from Detroit, obviously

Coffey is neutral and it doesn’t cost a 1st to dump 11m of expiring salary.
Dallas just dumped THJ and got a young prospect for 3 2nds

Reeks of the Baron Davis dump that resulting in losing the #1 overall pick. The money savings would make sense if Ballmer wasn't worth 132 billion.

Yeah, including Coffey here is the problem. Honestly, it sounds like the Clippers are okay losing PG if he insists on a max. I don't know whether he's already opted-in, or just announced his intention to do so, but if he really wanted to leave, he wouldn't have done either.

Quite bad for the Clippers considering that they already not going to have full control over their draft until 2030. Also the Mavericks just moved Tim Hardaway Jr by attaching 3 2nd picks.I doubt it's going to cost a unprotected 1st for the Clippers to move off of Tucker contract and Amir Coffey contract is not seen a negative.

Weaver would probably do this without the 1st, sorry I mean Langdon, they're pretty much the same, both are dumb and incompetent.

Tucker
2031 1st rounder
For
2028 Clippers second rounder ( back to them via Dallas)
It really depends on how much the Clippers want to drop $11.5 million. PG’s future location will go a long way in deciding this…..
Tucker would never set foot in Detroit, it’s a straight frp purchase for whatever they buy him out for.

You could slap on a few protections to this trade though, couldn’t happen in the BD trade iirc.

I doubt it too but a key point is that THJ was exactly the type of player Detroit wanted and they’re going to play him big minutes. They would’ve taken him for nothing, or not much.
PJ Tucker is in a different category, pure bad contract ness that no one wants. Also even if Coffeys deal isn’t bad I doubt anyone would take him into cap space with no other return, so you are going to have to give some incentive for that. But they’d hope it doesn’t have to be an unprotected 1st.
