Portland passes very quickly. Been there & done that with CJ. Wish him well on his career, but don't want him back at all.

CJ is a bad fit in Portland. With Sharpe and Scoot needing major development minutes, CJ is basically a bad contract.

I think we'd want more picks than Orlando would ever agree to send -- like 2-3 good 1sts.

Not really a fan of either player, but I think it makes more sense for the Magic to trade for CJ instead of Simons. Hopefully they give up nothing more than a lotto protected future 1st.

NO trades CJ for Ayton
Orlando trades cap space for CJ
Portland trades Ayton for cap space

based deal makes sense. Minor other pieces involved but that's the core idea.

I dont know, but I think this trade makes a lot of sense.

I think the picks need clarified, and CJ needs to be sent elsewhere for something else. I doubt Portland wants him taking guard minutes, nor do they want to have the optics of bringing in a fan favorite and potentially pissing him off with a follow up trade, so I think it needs to be expanded to where he doesn’t come back to Portland, even briefly.

I liked this more, but in the past I've suggested CJ to Orlando and Magic fans hated the idea. IMO your version is clearer and easier to execute. Everyone wins, Portland moves on, Orlando gets the scoring guard for free, New Orleans gets a big.

Cap space is an asset, but sounds like you'd rather hold off two years for that.

I think that Issac for CJ wouldn’t be the worst think. Not using all the cap n CJ.

who are you saving that cap space for? There isnt anyone on the market that can be as good as Isaac next season for 17 mill. I highly doubt Isaac is going anywhere. He was 6th in minutes played in the play offs, and clearly an important piece for the Magic.

Maybe a instead of involving Portland, the Magic can do a Goga S&T+ pick for CJ? Ofcourse Goga would have to approve.

I’d throw in Hawkins if it got it over the finish line.

I don’t think the idea of just having Ayton hanging around will be as appealing for the organization as so did you make it sound. He’s got two years left, he plays the same position as your top 10 pick and Portland is getting ready for the 2025 draft.

You bring him off the bench and he becomes a negative asset. You start him and you delay development of your new center. You start them both and you clog the paint for star guard. I’m biased but I don’t think it makes sense to keep him.

Orlando has no interest in Simons, they only want 2 way players.

You have to consider the Blazers’ perspective here.

Scoot/Sharpe/Ant/Ayton only played 5 games together last season. That quartet is basically still an unknown.

Clingan has so far been a low minutes player and is coming off a foot injury. Probably the worst thing the Blazers could do is hand Clingan the keys with no healthy backup (fingers crossed for TL) and say “okay, play 38 minutes a game…”

Much better to keep Ayton short-term, allow his contract to gain even a little more value and let Clingan adjust to the NBA IN A 20 minute role.
