Lakers - Raptors: Bruce Brown deal makes sense, right?

Lakers need a POA defender and someone who can do the gritty vet stuff. DLo is not it.

Raptors will look to trade Bruce Brown, and are willing to absorb extra salaries (can absorb up to $30.5M I believe)

They could technically do many different permutations of deals here:

1. DLo Russell + Jalen H-S for Bruce Brown.

2. Rui / Vanderbilt + Gabe V + Jalen H-S + 2nd for Brown + Boucher

You can play around with the ingredients, but it’s clear there’s enough expendable chess pieces here on both sides to make a deal if the teams want.

How would you structure a deal?

Brown / Vincent
Reaves / Knecht / Christie
Rui or Vando / Reddish
Lebron / TPrince
ADavis / JHayes

Christian Wood can also opt in. That’s a solid 10-11 man deep roster.

It's good concept but I think Brown makes too much money next season and would take up too many contracts/trade assets from the Lakers to make the deal work. Due to apron issues Lakers would need to send out a bit more than Brown's $23 mil. They can probably have Gabe fill a similar role as Brown and use those other assets to acquire other guys who make less (DFS, Carter Jr, etc). Despite having 14 guys on the roster the Lakers still have a lot of holes and not much cap to play with. They need a big, a wing, and athleticism in the backcourt and not enough assets/capspace to fill all the holes. They probably cannot afford to allocate $23 mil of their capspace to Bruce Brown next season. Anything is possible but I also doubt they deal assets for an expiring player like Brown.

Raps don't need to add vet guys who don't want to be there.

And in their starting lineup, they need a 3+D guy like a Wiggins or Hunter to make it more balanced. Do should go to a better team and have tbe ball in his hands. Just not the right fit.

There’s a world where the Lakers can open up the Full MLE and duck the repeater tax.

3 team with LA, Orlando and Toronto

LA in: Bruce Brown, (Full MLE cap space)
LA out: DLo, Rui

Orlando in: DLo
Orlando out: 3 2nds

Toronto in: Rui, 3 2nds
Toronto out: Bruce Brown

Orlando takes on a quality starter guard for 3 2nds
LA gets a vet POA defender, the NTMLE, and ducks the repeater tax
Toronto gets a bunch of assets for Bruce Brown

Bruce Brown is not the solution to every problem. And all the proposed deals here make the Lakers worse and ask them to give Toronto incentive for the privilege.

Stop being salty. The Lakers themselves (according to Woj) were recently interested in Brown.

Also, Lakers fans think there’s some rationale behind the use…EVEN ONES WHO DONT LIKE BROWN. Especially if it helps open up more roster spots for LA.

Just don't see why Lakers would downgrade from D'Lo to Brown and give up incentive. Rui is also a bigger need for them.

Would be easier to pay a second for someone to take Hayes and Reddish and could probably get someone to just take Wood.

How is Brown's defense? I don't know much about him. His defensive stats don't look to great. I know he is not a shooter, so I would like him to at least be a good defender.
