Markkanen

Ainge will at least want to select a high-potential prospect and the next Draft is the ideal time to do so. .it wouldn't make sense to try to compete this next year (in my opinion) So what offer would you make for Lauri?
The Thunder fit perfectly, but who else makes sense and could make a great offer (I'm guessing at least a Bridges-type package) Would the Kings throw Murray+? The CAVS would try to get him back with Garland/Allen ( 3 team)?

Spurs are probably ideal as they have the most good 2025 picks.

Warriors would be a good fit, Thunder obviously, and maybe even the Lakers.

Dark horses could be the Sixers, Hawks, or Wolves (in a 3-way KAT deal)

I'll reiterate what I've said before... If the Jazz move Lauri, I expect them primarily to target a young stud from a team who wants to accelerate their timetable—a Jalen Williams type player. If that doesn't materialize (and I don't expect it to) the Jazz most likely opt to do the R+E and keep him long term (or entertain offers for him at a later date).

If they do go for a pick-centric deal, I'd expect them to prioritize the quality of pick packages (ATL picks owned by the Spurs & PHX picks owned by the Rockets are good starting points) over a large volume of less attractive picks (like what OKC has to offer).

I'm expecting a pick-centric deal with a younger player thrown in. Ainge adores darts. That said, I don't really expect Utah to hold onto past the deadline next season. There is no point in hanging onto him when we should be trying to maximize the tank.

Maximize the Keyonte minutes = maximize the tank.

Lauri for Jabari Smith Jr+ Suns 27 1st + best of DAL/Suns 1st in 29.

Ya if HOU wants to win now this makes a lot of sense. And they still would have tons of young talent.

G - Fred VanVleet / Reed Sheppard
G - Jalen Green / Amen Thompson / AJ Griffin
F - Dillon Brooks / Cam Whitmore / AJ Griffin
F - Lauri Markkanen / Tari Eason / Jae’Sean Tate
C - Alpern Sengun / Steven Adams / Jock Landale

That’s pretty nasty. Easily the most athletic 2nd unit in basketball. Well rounded starters. Enough big salary ballast and future picks for another big move too.

I think there's enough there to have a conversation.

Jabari has more value than an expiring Lauri. You would have to add to get him.

There is no way that the Kings send Murray.

Salary match that is secondarily moveable plus all available unprotected firsts necessary. I feel three plus two swaps is fair given that Lauri is not far removed from an injury history and his “All star” appearance happened to coincide (as a selection not voted) with the All Star game in SLC so I’m sure that was a confession as there were others on better teams that deserved the slot.

If that’s not good enough I’m perfectly happy as the Kings making other moves or taking Collins and a pick for the same salary breakup.

Debatable, but Jabari is likely a better long term fit with Sengun defensive liabilities. As of fan of both players I would give up about the same from Memphis in trade but would prefer Jabari.

I doubt we could make the strongest offer, but he'd be a real fit on the Pacers.

What does Lauri do better than Jabari? As a Thunder fan I'd much rather have Jabari and pay more to get him. Lauri is a slightly better shooter at this point, but Jabari just shot better from 3 at age 20 than Lauri did at age 24. Both are capable volume shooters from 3. Jabari is a better defensive player. Both have decent ball handling skills. You can argue Lauri will be better in '24-'25, but you can't argue that Jabari isn't the better asset given the age and contract status of both players.

Well Ainge isn’t taking Pascal back in that deal and you can’t deal him for six months after he signs.

So what would the offer be that would work for a rebuild team?

We'd want Lauri as a 3 not a 4. But we don't have multiple available picks. We'd have to start with Mathurin and maybe Nesmith but I don't think that moves Utah's needle.

The most Philly can offer is four 1sts and three 1st swaps.

Will be interesting to see where Lauri lands. I think the OKC thing is overblown. Just because they can doesn't mean they will. They'll be maxing Jalen and Chet in 2 years.

Houston and Sacramento make sense. I could also see Masai jumping from the top rope here.

At #8, Utah had a 6% chance at the #1 pick this draft. Meanwhile, the worst team in the league had a 14% chance at the #1 pick.

Utah is already a worse team after their deadline trade. If they don't improve the team, their percentage already goes up.

This so-called maximizing their tank equates to gaining just a few percentage points towards having a better shot at #1. It's not nearly the big difference some people are making it out to be.

Right now, Lauri isn't getting moved unless he refuses to extend.

This isn't really accurate, because its not just the #1 pick, its top 4, which makes those percentages are wildly better for worse teams.

These partial rebuilds just don't really work.
