So in essence, Holmes declined his PO and instead extended for two years, but the 2nd year is a team option. Basically, from what I can tell, allows the Wiz to maintain the 90% requirement in 2025-2026 if need be (if they don't find anyone else worthwhile to use that space on) since they will be tanking anyways.

They really want a top 3 pick. The bad teams, with the possible exception the Spurs, are going to tank hard for this class.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

This is my best guess, that he opted out and is signing for a slightly smaller deal to fit into the MLE for trade later in? And they gave him the same total money overall, but he’s hoping that he’ll get his salary guaranteed next year as a trade piece, which is easier than a sign and trade?

You mean the Spurs who just traded a top 10 draft pick for assets that are 6+ years away?

I think it's a pretty safe bet they will be tanking.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.
