Not sure what this accomplishes for Washington.
Would have thought Valancunis would have had a better opportunity with a contender

this makes no sense for Washington. Guess this was the market for JV? Pels should have tried to keep him at this number.

They got Jonas on a great contract and he is a solid player and a solid pro.

I hope they did this with the intention of flipping him later, because it is a very good contract for his level of production and I anticipate his stats will be rather gaudy with the Wizards.

I don’t see why a few teams didn’t offer closer to full MLE to Jonas. Or NOP offering more money to keep him..
I guess it’s good value for Washington but makes no sense. Could’ve tanked just fine with Holmes and Bagley..

At least he’s a vet that will help the kids play the right way.
Hope he’s a communicator on defence.

Not sure why the Wizards would be doing this. Just go and get young players and see which ones work out.

Detroit could use one of those, but we decided to get THJr to throw bricks and play 0 defense.

Have to spend money on someone. There is not good enough young players to full up their available cap space. Val for 22-24 minutes is not blocking anyone they currently have on their roster. Good guy too.

For all his flaws , THJ might still be a better option than trying your luck in free agency.
Play the right way , try for the play in and then spend your cash.

As a Wiz fan, I don't understand it as they already had vet stopgaps at Center in Bagley & Holmes while affording to give PT to Vukcevic and Sarr. It's a very good contract, but what's the point? They are already ahead of the Nets whom are clearly the worst team in the NBA right now.

Are they going to re-sign Tristan Vukcevic?
I like him as an upside play for Boston if he's available for a vet min deal in free agency. I had assumed that they were just declining his deal to do a new long-term deal, but maybe not? They have JVal/Holmes/Bagley/Sarr now who can play the 5. And then Kuzma figures to play lots of PF. Pretty full front court.

Play in? With a team that just won 14 games and added a 35% 3 point shooter who shoots 7 3's per game and plays 0 defense? We'll likely have a hard time cracking double digits win next season.

Better coaching , better rotation , internal development and the players better start giving a damn.

He could have a 20/10 type season if Kuz and Poole actually give him the ball. He's got a really good post game whether face up or back to basket. Loved JV on the Pels, sad to see him go. He always picked up the offensive slack when BI or Zion went down.

Collecting trade fodder is the only good explanation here. For JV, I would've thought he could've gotten 30 over 2 years.

They're spending over $100m on Poole, Kuzma, Brogdan, Holmes, Bagley, Shamet. Still lots of time to go so rosters aren't set or anything, but they need to be force feeding minutes into Vukcevic and obviously Sarr.
Bagley is there and Holmes at the 5. They don't need anything else and IMO should be putting their resources into other areas.

Jonas is a good vet to have in a rebuilding locker room and that contract is easily movable if they need to.
