BBall Paul on the trade block - make your offers!

The Sixers appear to have replaced Paul Reed with Andre Drummond and Adem Bona.
So it makes sense to trade him for pure cap to open up $10m more of cap space for another forward.
Therefore, who will trade picks for Reed into cap space, or into an exception which is also allowed now?
His contract is $7.7m this year and $8.1m next year, both unguaranteed but you'll have to guarantee it to trade match.
Make all offers here!

I feel like any team that has cap space and is interested in Reed would just wait until Philly releases him and then sign him directly.
Maybe some team gives up a 2nd and/or cash just to avoid the uncertainty of FA? But I wouldn't expect must more than that. Reed is a fine player but no one is structuring their offseason around him.

Utah may have renewed interest in him once he's waived.

If the Knicks stop screwing around and do what they have to do to get under the apron and re-sign Hartenstein, I think OKC might work.

PHI need his contract, his contract + 7.5 gets you to 15M in case PHI wants to trade for forward help (DFS for example...)

They don't have a way to get that other 7.5 though. They're basically capped out if they keep Paul post-PG and Drummond signings.

Salary matching rules allow for extra 7.5, they really lack forward depth and 3&D players in general that's their only way to get one.

How about straight to the Knicks?

They're presently over the 1st apron. Both teams can't save money.

Maybe I'm missing something (I feel like there's always something I'm missing with the new CBA rules) but if Paul only makes $7.7M, how are they bringing back $15M? 125% plus $100k would top them out at $9.7M and change

Under 1st apron teams, when trading for less the 25M, can match the 125% + 100K or 7.5M difference.

But at 15m they would be over the first apron as far as I have seen.

If so, then scrap it, but I'd try hard to fit DFS under the 1st Apron, more useful player than Paul...

Well, he could be a last resort for the Pels.

Yeah it's close but I don't think it quite works. Spotrac has them at $160M post-Maxey extension, and the first apron number is $172.3, so if they trade Reed for DFS they would be only $5M below the first apron with 6 roster spots to fill.
If they could convince Brooklyn to take McClain instead of a future pick, it might work.

You're probably looking at either adding picks to him to get a valuable player making $10-13M.
Or you just trade him as an expiring for a different player of the same caliber at a different spot.
PHI has the picks to add. Problem is, not too many guys worth giving picks for make $10-13M.

Memphis offers Zaire/cash/2 2nds. Zaire/cash/2nd to 3rd team like Det or Wash and a 2nd back to Philly.
Paul is likely the best use of Philly cap space as it is though.

a sign and trade with the Raptors for Gary Trent? Give the Raptors a bunch of 2nds and Reed. Trent can be a perfect 5th starter

I think Trent would be undersized for pf, and I am not convinced of his defense even not there.
