Spurs or Warriors: Best deal for Markkanen?

Who has the best offers to give to Utah to bring Markkanen into the team?

Spurs could offer multiple picks next year. The Warriors could offer multiple picks in succeeding years (25/27/29).

Spurs could offer Keldon Johnson, Champagnie and 3 FRPs (2 in 25/1 in 27).
Jazz send Kessler/Markkanen.
Spurs still would have large cap space available.

Warriors might need to include a 3rd team to make it valuable to Utah. I cannot see Utah wanting Wiggins and 25/27 FRPs.
Personally if I am the Jazz I want Podz/Kuminga in the deal as they are young and could grow with a team of Hendricks and George and the 21 picks they still have.

Wiggins and Johnson each have the same number of years left but Johnson's is declining. On the other hand, the Warriors pick in 27 could be much better than any of the Spurs picks.

Depending on Jazz wants, is there a better deal to be had?

I'd rather have the Hawks picks than anything Golden State could offer.

As a Warriors fan, would be hard to beat a Spurs offer considering the number of picks they could put out there.

Really? Do they have much going on past Curry?

Warriors offer is better, because the Spurs offer in the OP isn't good, Spurs are capable of putting a great offer this isn't it...

If what we want are good picks 4 years from now, sure, but Steph/Lauri would be great.

Not sure either of the OP offers would be accurate. Spurs could offer more. Warriors likely offer Looney and GP2 expiring deals with Kuminga or another young guy and not offer Wiggins (who likely has no appeal to Utah)

I remember when Mitchell was being traded to the Knicks. Then suddenly he was gone to Cleveland. Although we did hear that I there was another offer that the Jazz liked better. At the time I thought this 'better offer' was just a bluff. Turned out it was not.

Long story short, don't be surprised for some team out of left field to be the one he's traded to.

It’s interesting because if Lauri is traded - Philly feels like they could’ve made a really competitive offer. But think with Oubre/Dre signings - they no longer are able to.

But I think Kuminga and two firsts over mystery firsts from SAD. Atlanta is retooling and seems to be letting Trae play free, which normally means Atlanta wins more than they lose.

SAS can definitely beat any offer GSW makes if they want though? Just think Wemby/Lauri/Vassell/CP and a bunch of talented kids is actually really good.. So you’re banking on Atlanta being bad.

The Spurs offer is better.

Dear god, please make the Spurs offer be better.

Just out of curiosity, how do Warriors fans want the team to pivot? Keep Curry and add young players? Trade assets for a second star? Totally rebuild?

Ideally, Curry would retire and we'd start an enormous OKC style rebuild.

I fear we are now in a cost saving, tread water situation where we are just riding Curry's final days into the sunset for an extended farewell tour. Sort of late Kobe/Dirk career-like. Our assets around Steph, are not the greatest, so it's a really difficult scenario for Mike Dunleavy Jnr to revamp the team that is looking to shave costs, by using the teams assets, that just aren't that desireable in trade. There's also the realisation that players may not really want to join the team knowing that the team is on the downturn.

So yeah, I fear we are in a 2-3 year late lotto type season to season thing, until Steph retires, or demands a trade.

So, to answer your question, my desire is for Curry to retire and we start an enormous rebuild with 4000 picks.

I know what you're going to ask me next as well, "What would it take to trade Curry then?", to which my reply is "No, never trading Curry ever, never ever ever, would rather win 5 games a season and suck then consider that".

I totally get it. At a certain point a guy brought you championships and he deserves to stay as long as he wants.

It's split about 80% wanting to continue to attempt to compete with about 20% saying blow it up in some form. That 20% includes people that say move on from Draymond/Wiggins but allow Steph to stay if he wants. Some of the 80% want to keep Steph/Dray but not mortgage the future. I'd say 60% are willing to just let all the assets fly.

Really it's about Steph, I watched us win 1 playoff series in the 30 years before he arrived, whatever Curry wants is fine by me. If he wants to stay and compete and I'm all for going down swinging. I don't mind delaying a rebuild a few years given how stacked OKC is and the ascension of Wemby.

I hope we find a way to get Lauri, but I'd be surprised if the Spurs offer a lot. You'd think they'd want to get a nice pick one more year and then start pushing chips into the middle.

I'd rather have the Hawks picks as the Spurs, which is why I doubt the Spurs get him. The Jazz and Spurs are bad trading partners; Ainge's big flaw is he only trades when it's a rip off, and the Spurs are hyperconservative. That doesn't have the makings of a deal.

I'm in the go get a second star camp. Put competitive roster around Steph/Dray and hope things break your way. Personally in no rush to go tank mode, let's keep this thing going as long as we have the most novel and fun duo in league history

The Spurs draft pick would not be good
cp
Vassell
Castle
Lauri
Wemby

starting 5 could really be a playoff team.

Keep Curry and give him 1 last shot even if that's a 1 or 2 year window. I've watched through the dark ages. I'm already prepared for the 2nd one once Curry retires. I have no delusion that we won't be right back into the dark ages even if we were to trade Curry for a haul of picks. I would never want that to happen.

I think this disease is called "Cohan-19".

Lacob won't let that happen.
