Cleveland: Allen

New Orleans: Murphy and Jones

Cleveland: Get more floor spacing

New Orleans: Get a big they need in the middle

Cavs aren't getting Murphy and Jones for Allen. I'd want Murphy, but Griffin will only trade him if they can't agree on an extension and Ingram decides to take less to stay N.O.

I'm amenable to trading Allen and LeVert's expiring if Ingram is will extend at a number in the $36-42M range, but if he's insisting on a full max, I'd be out.

jbk is right. Pels aren't giving you two young, affordable wings for the center you'd prefer to move. I know there has been lots of deals proposed between these two teams but I don't really see a fit. Pels shouldn't give up the young wings and Cleveland shouldn't want Ingram.

the only reason we want to move Ingram in the first place is to let Murphy start and you sure as hell won't be getting Herb

You may want to prepare yourself on the Herb front

Murphy and Jones for Allen? Not a chance.

You know something ?.

The chances of Herb getting traded should be reduced even more now that Daniels is gone.

This is an absolutely WILD overpay by New Orleans. I doubt Allen could pull Murphy OR Herb without Cleveland adding some incentive. Both is highway robbery.

The rumor is that he was on the table for Allen last season, and while I agree that trading Daniels would mean they'd have to replace one or both of them, that shouldn't be difficult. Thybulle is very gettable. The Kings just dumped Mitchell on the Raptors. No offer has been made to Okoro yet. It's just not that difficult to replace guards and wings whose primary value is on the defensive side of the floor.

I'd assume that's why no trade was done. It was also rumored Hawks wanted him for Murray at the deadline, reason that trade wasn't done either. Why, Daniels not Herb went with the Lakers pick for Murray this offseason.

From NO's side, it was then supposedly Jonas expiring filler, with Herb rumored as the player value. Now BI not Jonas is the value being offered up. Adding Herb's value to BI for a defensive rim runner makes no sense for NO's. They would be creating a hole to half way fill another because Allen would be a less than ideal fit with Zion offensively.

Herb was shooting the ball better more consistently than Murphy down the stretch run. His 40% shooting looked very sustainable.

The problem with offering up BI are his extension expectations. The Cavs don't want to hand him a max deal anymore than the Pelicans do and that's not something that can be fixed by tinkering with value. It's the threshold issue. Ingram either comes off that, or not. It's not something the Cavs or Pelicans can control.

I understand & don't disagree with your view on BI.

I'm just saying Herb's chance of being traded is very slim to none

I believe Altman when he says the plan is to see how this core works with Atkinson. Now, myself, if the Pelicans and Murphy can't come to terms on an extension, and Griffin puts him on the table, I'm trading Allen. If the Spurs season starts ugly, CP3 misses games, and they put Vassell on the table, I'm thinking about moving Garland.

But if you're a top 4 seed that just extended Mitchell, you can't engage in trades where you lose on talent unless some outside factor is at play.

I will upset both teams and easily/willingly trade both Mobleys for Murphy and Jones. I think it works better for both teams.

I am just not high on Mobley ever being more than what he currently is - a real, real good defensive PF that cannot shoot.

I can guarantee you Herb was NEVER on the table for Allen. Cleveland would have jumped at that in a heart beat if so.

I worded that poorly. These teams were rumored to be asking for Herb, he was never on the table .

Not sure what the big fuss about Jones is...he averaged 11 pts. a game in 30 minutes???!! I know he is a good defender, but Murphy is the big draw. Allen has a lot of value around the league, and I think you would be surprised at what the Cavs would get for him if he becomes available. There isn't a GM in the league who would take Jones even up for Allen.
