Niang/Jerome/3 or 4 2nds

Thybulle

Cavs add a different look to their wing rotation--probably don't want to play him a ton with both centers, but can certainly play with one or the other. Doesn't hurt existing rotation.

Blazers stack up some more assets and Niang can space the floor off the bench to create space for the young guards to develop.

I'd do this and cut Okoro lose but I think the front office might prefer to see what happens with Okoro's RFA market.

I think Portland would prefer sending Thybulle out with nothing but draft picks coming back

Ya, PDX has no one on the roster they would cut to make this deal. I think we keep Matisse a while until a 1-for-1 or cap space offer + pick(s).

Its the off-season so you have expanded rosters. Then you simply cut Jerome.

Now obviously that's just a fix for the roster spots. If you prefer Thybulle over assets, its still bad.

In terms of the nothing but cap space deals, that window is closing pretty fast on terms of available cap space. The Blazers should be on the phone with the Hornets if that's the plan.

If the goal is development, a team with Scoot and Sharpe could definitely benefit from the spacing Niang provides.

Wade makes half the amount of Thuybulle but if you throw in Jerome it'd probably work but due to money difference still Portland would have to send a second or two. For the position there in they probably would prefer to take the 2nds, salary relief, and move Niang to maybe LA for Vincent or just roll with him and maybe use him as a filler in a trade later.

I don't see the point for Cleveland. I'd also like to see Jerome actually step foot on the court given Cleveland lacks PG depth.

We'll see what happens by the 6th, but there's a danger that he could sign th Q.O., and then you're unlikely to trade him anywhere. You need his consent to trade him if he elects to play on the Q.O. because the acquiring team won't have Bird Rights.

Also, if he's not presented with an offer sheet and no S&T is worked out in the next couple weeks, it's fair to ask how much trade value he actually has.

I still like him for the QO honestly for a year. He'd likely approve a trade elsewhere so he can stat pad a bit more to create leverage in FA. I'd honestly prefer a trade around Lavert, Niang, Jerome, plus a protected first or 3 2nds for Grant if possible than going after Thuybulle.

He would not approve a trade because he'd lose Bird Rights. Which matter even if Cleveland doesn't want to sign him next summer either because it leaves open a S&T option.

I'm out on trading any type of first for Grant, but otherwise agree. We're already offering real cap savings in years 2 & 3.

Would the Hornets even trade just cap space for Thybulle having just done effectively an identical deal for Green? I suppose it's not a bad thing to have multiple rotation-level wings that you could flip at the deadline or next offseason for assets, but it seems a bit redundant.
