Knicks trade:
Deuce McBride
2025 Washington Protected 1-10, 2026 1-8, if not 2026 and 2027 2nd round picks

Jazz trade:
Walker Kessler

Both players on great contracts.
Kessler seems to have fallen out of favor with Utah and they just drafted Flipowski and signed Eubanks.
McBride was a great 3-D player for the Knicks but their needs at Center are just greater.
Fits Utah well next to Clarkson and Keyonte George.
Jazz get some upside via either a late lottery pick (unlikely) or 2 potentially early second round picks.

I think I'd rather keep Deuce and bring Precious back because injuries will inevitably happen. But if the FO likes its backup PG options, this seems like a reasonable offer.

With DDV moving to the bench, Deuce's ability to defend either guard spot becomes less important and we can probably get by with a 12mpg table setter to help Julius run the offense when Jalen is resting.

If Utah is willing to do this trade (which can be merged into the Bridges trade along with a minimum to get the Knicks out of the first apron), NY should do this in a heartbeat.

NY can then sign Kyle Lowry to spilt backup PG minutes with Kolek. Also, NY can bring back Burks and Precious on one year deals for depth.

My gut sense is Utah can do better than this package.

As a Knicks' fan I wouldn't mind swapping some of the guard talent to improve the center rotation. At full strength one of DDV or Deuce may get squeezed for minutes anyway. The Wizards pick provides a little extra incentive even though it is unlikely to convey as a first round pick. With the new CBA the Knicks may actually need those 2 second rounders to help add talent but I would be willing to send it out in this deal but who knows how Ainge values Kessler. I'm not sure if Utah would want another small guard with limited point guard skills anyway but Deuce does shoot well and defend.

Yeah I don't see the fit of McBride with Utah, but maybe there is a 3 way deal where a team that needs guard depth throws a different player with cost control to Utah.

We won't be at full strength all season, but even if we were, there should be plenty of minutes for McBride, DiVincenzo, and Hart off the bench :dontknow:

Not really.

Brunson (35)// McBride (13)
Bridges (35)// DDV (13)
Anunoby (32)// DDV (12)// Hart (4)
Randle (33) // Hart (15)

So were looking at 13 minutes for Duce, 19 minutes for Hart and 25 for DDV. Maybe you cut Brunson and Bridges down to 32 each and get McBride to 16 and Hart to 22.

With the lack of front court depth, it's easier to find replacement minutes for McBride within the roster.

You love to disagree about minutes with me :D

I'd rather that the Jazz keep Kessler, but I certainly wouldn't want them to trade him for this return.

Ainge would want much much more than this. I hope Leon never does business with him honestly.

1) we don't need another guard under 6-4, we have Sexton, George, Collier, and Clarkson.
2) that pick is conveying as 2nds

So, not interested even if it is fair.
