Cleveland: Garland and Merrill
Cleveland: Rui, Johnson, Wood, and 2 future firsts (from Knicks, protection debatable)
Lakers: Rui and Wood
Lakers: DFS and Merrill
Brooklyn: Johnson, DFS, and 2 future Firsts (from Knicks protection debatable)
Brooklyn: Garland
Cavs get some picks and some bigger versatility they don't have
Lakers: Trade offense for defense with DFS and add one of the top shooters in the league who should benefit next to James (also save money)
Brooklyn: Get a foundational piece locked in at 24 they can build their team around who would fit well next to Ben Simmons and grow with Claxton.

Wrong directions for Brooklyn and Cleveland. The former is looking to be the absolute worst team in the league while the latter is looking to be one of the best.
Ben Simmons is a non-factor in Brooklyns decision making process.

Garland is not the guy the Nets would go all in for.

The Cavs are going to give Garland another season under Atkinson and they should. Given the talent in next year's draft class, all the bad teams are fine remaining really bad another season. He's coming off a down year. It's a bad time to be trading him.

I would see a Lakers Cavs trade of like Russell and Hachimura for Garland...Garland is a Klutch agency player so the fit is naturally along with Garland being what the Lakers need/are looking for. Not sure if either team would do this, and if not what would the other one want to add....to me its a fair trade...would think Cavs could add maybe Wade and Lakers add Hayes. Lakers probably have to add some pick....but who knows. Laker fans and Cavs fans probably each say they wouldn't do it, but I think its probably close to far value and offers each team what they need. Cavs get more outside shooting and a backup big....Lakers get a PG that can do everything and a serviceable backup PF/SF/Small ball C.

If the price is that low, the lakers would rather gamble and get Garland.

The Cavs wouldn’t consider this. Rui and DLO for Garland? No…just no.
