Chicago / Detroit / LA Clippers / LA Lakers

NOTE: This is assuming that the Bulls are motivated to move Zach LaVine, AND are willing to attach more than just a single FRP to move him. I wouldn't but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
Chicago Bulls Receive:
SG D'Angelo Russell
PF Rui Hachimura
Detroit Pistons Receive:
PF PJ Tucker
'25 FRP (via PDX)*
LA Clippers Receive:
PG Gabe Vincent
LA Lakers Receive:
SG Zach LaVine
'26 FRP (Pick Swap, Most Favorable of CHI/PDX/LAL)
*IF the Blazers' pick doesn't convey in 2025, then the Lakers get the more favorable of the Lakers, Blazers, and Bulls' FRP in 2026, the Pistons get the 2nd most favorable, and the Bulls receive the least favorable.
WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE BULLS?
The Bulls clear Zach LaVine's contract off the books, and get D'Angelo Russell who is on an expiring contract and Rui Hachimura who is still relatively young. This deal creates a TPE worth roughly $7.3M which gives them even more flexibility. The Bulls are banking that in 2026 that the gap between the Lakers and Bulls will be small enough to justify to getting rid of LaVine's deal.
WHY IT COULD WORK FOR DETROIT?
At this point, FA is starting to dry up and the number of teams who need to create more breathing room is dropping. And it's pretty close to zero. They take on PJ Tucker's contract (and likely waive him) for the Portland FRP. Even though it likely won't convey in the next year or two, it's another asset to add to their chest.
WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE LA CLIPPERS?
The Clippers take a gamble on Vincent and his health in exchange for an extra year of salary. With Russell Westbrook likely on his way out, the Clippers could use an additional backup guard.
WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE LAKERS?
The Lakers gamble on Zach Lavine, and gamble that Chicago is going to be significantly worse than the Lakers will be in 2026. They lose a chunk of depth in the process.

I’d sure love to get a first rounder this easily.
Who’s getting a raw deal? This feels rich given what that amount of space normally goes for.

Clips already have Bones, Harden, Dunn (Russ for now), Mann and Norm. Plus Jordan And Cam expected in DayGo/Two way.
Don't see them taking on the extra year of another backup guard that wouldn't be a real upgrade.
Good all around idea tho

I seriously doubt the Bulls are willing to pay this price to get out from under Lavine.
And I know with 100 percent certainty their posters on these boards will hate the idea.

For Detroit, absolutely. But it feels like we should have to take on another contract. Like maybe we’re the team to waive Westbrook.

This would be perfect for Detroit. Not sure Chicago do it

The issue is who is our backup pg and backup/starting wing? Also still need a C
Who are some cheap guards and wings that are available?

You'd be the only one given it doesn't help Chicago at all.
Chicago doesn't need to trade LaVine so they aren't going to attach assets to him, holding onto him doesn't lower his value.
Chicago isn't taking on Russell, we have more than enough guards.

Still a better fit after the trade.
Giddey
Coby
Patrick
Rui (maybe Jalen Smith here?)
Vuc
is still better than starting Zach at the 3 spot. At this point we cant bench Coby

Presumably if the Lakers wanted/needed, the Pistons could eat more "useless" money.

We don't care about fit right now, there is no logical reason to attach assets to LaVine or take back Russell.
Zero. Nada. Zilch.
It's a bad deal for Chicago and there's no way other way to spin it.

Bulls don't intend to give up a pick to move on from Lavine. You say the Lakers are taking a gamble on Lavine, that's their call, they've got him for a year beyond Lebron's contract, it's unlikely he'll be injured for the next 3 years and their upside is, they're going for championships. They don't deserve a pick from the Bulls to help them take their gamble.Part 2 of that is the Bulls have n real need or minutes for an expiring DLo. With Lavine gone they are starting Giddey and White with Dosunmu behind them. How happy id DLo going to be with 4th guard 15-20 minutes a game? So don't expect them to give up a pick in addition to an unhappy veteran.

He signed with Miami
And I mean someone decent who may be able to close a game and can shoot
Reaves, Lavine, ????, Bron, AD
Currently it would be Vando. But he isn't a shooting threat and if he doesn't figure out the off ball stuff this season (or is hurt even), then what?
Christie is young and more of a big guard

+1. The media reports were that the Bulls would have to attach assets to Lavine to dump him.
Nowhere in the reports did it say the Bulls were actually willing to do that.

Absolutely not from the Bulls perspective. I’d rather sit Lavine for the duration of his contract than attach a valuable first rounder with him.

Add Lonzo going to Detroit, and Detroit sending a 2nd to Chicago and the value should be more realistic. Detroit have been selling cap space for 2nds, they're not going to get a 1st to eat 11.5 mil in dead salary, sadly.
