Portland/Sac

Post draft/mid FA check-in:

Grant/Murray for Barnes/Huerter/27 first/28 swap.

Portland creates two moveable contracts and draft capital. They likely lose a couple more games too which helps the #bepoop4coop campaign. The 28 swap is in hopes that 4 years from now they are on the upswing and Sac is crashing.

Kings add the needed length and athleticism. Carter/Murray/Grant check those boxes, Monte could claim he filled the needs.

Switch the swap for SRP and I would do that so long as Huerter could be moved for value.

There is no world where I offer any kind of draft picks for Jerami Grant on that insane contract.

He’s not that guy and it’s a cap crippler.

30/32/34/36

It’s not that bad anymore. You’d rather BI on a 4/200?

Getting Kris Murray on his rookie deal helps offset it too.

It solves the length and athleticism issue. It’s a better team, and Sac has to make the playoffs or this whole thing could very quickly blow up. Vivek fires Monte in the off-season. GM wants a new coach, lame duck year, Browm fired following season. Blah blah. We’ve seen this.

Totally understandable but Huerter and Barnes are a clear downgrade. Not downgrading without incentive.

I’ve never seen it, but I would think they could have language that says “swap and if not conveyed they get a 2nd round pick.” I’m surprised this has never happened.

Yes from this Portland fan. We already have a swap with Milwaukee in 2028, so would want to include some language about being able to swap either our pick OR theirs, but doubt that's a big hangup on the deal. I think Barnes and Huerter would be easily movable for more smaller assets as well.

We’re paying no matter who we get unless it’s Kuzma and Grant is the better defender/Shooter. That trade needs to happen soon cause Angie just playing games about lauri

In the context of the new TV deal, Grant's contract is not insane. Just look at the contracts being signed this Summer.

- As a 2nd option behind Lillard, Grant averaged 20.6 PTS per 36 min with a .606 TS%. Ingram’s most efficient season in his career had a .587 TS%.
- Grant's a better shooter/floor spacer than Ingram
- Grant’s a better defender than Ingram (or at least has a higher defensive ceiling come crunch time and/or the playoffs).
- Although both have the length to play PF, Grant has the size/strength to defend PFs; whereas, Ingram is more of a SF/SG considering his lack of strength (which means we’re forcing Murray into the PF role which is less than ideal)
- Grant will be making ~$14-$15 mil less than Ingram (assuming he gets the max contract he’s after)

The only advantages Ingram brings over Grant is slightly better rebounding, the fact that he’s a little over 3 years younger, and that he’s a better passer. However, with guys like Fox, Sabonis, Monk, etc. all being good passers/playmakers, I don’t really consider that much of a loss.

I’d much prefer targeting Grant over Ingram as a Kings fan.

Grant + Kris Murray > BI @ same $ & yrs.
