GSW - Portland - NOP

New Orleans out: Ingram
New Orleans in: Ayton, 2026 GSW 1st, worse of GSW or POR/MIL 2028 1st
Portland out: Ayton
Portland in: Wiggins, Looney, 2028 swap rights with GSW 1st
GSW out: Wiggins, Payton, Looney, 2026 1st, 2028 1st, future 2nd(s)
GSW in: Ingram
Random cap team: eat payton for 2nd(s)
Why for GSW: get a 2nd option
Why for Portland: add an asset (by taking back a diff bad salary) for Ayton, free up PT for Clingan
Why for NOP: add a starting C and restock some picks for ingram
Feel free to debate protection on the picks

This would be fantastic for Portland, especially if they can flip Wiggins and Looney elsewhere for more value.

As a Warriors fan I like the general framework as a fallback plan if we can't get Lauri. If that's two unprotected 1sts plus 2nds though, it seems a little rich to me.

Personally, I'm not interested in Ingram for the Warriors. He'll be paid a ton of money and he's not good enough to warrant that kind of investment, there are obvious injury concerns with him, and I don't see the fit being good. I'm definitely not willing to add our FRPs in that kind of deal.

Warriors are 20 games missed by Curry from being a lottery team so would never trade future picks unprotected.
Would rather gamble on Kuminga becoming and Wiggins/Hield returning to being 20 pt scorers as 2/3 options.

Yeah I think there would have to be some level of protection on the picks/swaps we're sending out (at least top 4) but otherwise I would be on board with this.

Didn’t GSW cut Looney?

Portland's 2028 1st is in the jail. If it's not in the lottery, it goes to Chicago. If it is in the lottery, it can be swapped with Milwaukee's 1st. Adding another level of swap makes no sense and I really doubt the Blazers are going to trade Ayton for a swap anyway. they'd need an unencumbered 1st with some level of protection being OK

I would expect Portland to demand more value for Ayton than this. It would be tough to find a new home for Wiggins and they already have two guys to find a suitor for in Ant and Grant.

As a Warriors fan, an overpay with picks has to be for a guy that is a perfect fit on the team Ala Bridges to the Knicks. He’s not worth all they paid for him in a vacuum, but he’s worth that to the Knicks cause he’s such a great all around fit.
Lauri would be that for GS. Ingram not so much imo

I also think Blazers can get more assets than this for Ayton. Much more? No. But still more and if they can’t get it, I’m fine keeping Ayton for now.

The Ayton and Simons hate really needs to calm down. They are perfectly adequate stopgap players.

Wiggins contract and motivational issues make him a negative for a rebuilding Blazers team if they kept him.
But would he have positive value on the trade market? I would guess you could get an expiring for him + a 2nd, but not much else. Am I underestimating his value?
Even if Wiggins is neutral, Ayton has value for the Blazers and I would not trade him for a single swap from a good franchise.

Jesus the Blazer fans are overrating Ayton in here. Y’all need to relax. Ayton has contract and motivational issues as well. Both have a too much smoking pot problem
The Pelicans are the ones getting screwed on this deal but as a dubs fan I say yes to this in a heartbeat.

I don't know what an "adequate stopgap" player is. Is it anything like overpaid low-impact role players?
what really need to calm down is labeling realistic evaluations of players as "
hate"

This is a definite no from this Warriors fan. Not a chance I pay this much for Ingram.

Ayton is not how Green wants to ultimately defend & play with pace but he would be a solid enough stop gap option which would bide NO's time to adequately address, if necessary.
I like the projections on the 2 picks.
I'd accept.
