Good for Orlando and Franz, they've locked up a significant part of their future.

Not in to it tbh
He's a nice player but not a 25% of cap player IMO.
20% sure.

Locking up the future isn't always good

Maybe OP copy and pasted a different title for the formatting

Darn, I hadn't noticed until now.
It auto filled from an old thread I believe and I didn't fix it, should be updated now.

right now, Lauri. but he is 5 years older and 4 more years in the league. Franz is ahead of where he was year 3.

Yup, Franz is better now. Lauri had an unrealistic development curve and is currently at a level Franz likely never reaches (Top 30-ish guy).

He's not a max player, I don't think I would've haggled over the difference when guys like quickly got 175/5 and OG got similar money.
Seems like teams are pricing in few years of 10% cap increases

OG is better when healthy. He's a lockdown defender at multiple positions and can give you 20 a game or so. Comparing the 2, Franz is not as good.

This could end badly. I’d have played out the year.

I don't think that's true, OG is a much better defender, but replace Franz with OG in ORL, you get a worse team, replace OG with Franz in NY and I'm not sure it's worse team.

Eep. I love my guy Franzy (go Blue!j, but if he’s a max rookie extension, so is Mobley, Sengun, Cade, and J Green. Barnes has probably been the best of the bunch thus far, but that was already done. In fact, I’m sure this deal has Suggs wanting his as well, given his improvement last year. I might be forgetting someone else, too — that’s a lot of max rookie extensions.

The wiretap headline here on REALGM says that Franz was extended with the Rose Designation:
https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/276556/Franz-Wagner-Magic-Agree-To-Five-Year-$224M-Extension-With-Rose-DesignationDoesn't it mean that Orlando won't be able to hand out an extension with the Rose Designation to Paolo?

so we already know at 22 what Franz's ceiling is? think you are calling it too soon.

you know most of these are base on potential and he has shown more by year 3 than OG did. and more durable.
