This is going to end up around a 3-26 deal.

Sounds like Martin turned down a 5 year, $65mm deal from Miami that involved opting in this year.

For Philly - this was the best free agent left on the market. Their top 5 will feature Martin and Oubre along with Embiid/Maxey/George.

The bench is a little thin unless McCain steps up as a rookie and becomes a real rotation piece - but that top 5 is really good

This still should allow them to keep KJ Martin's cap hold, which could give Morey flexibility to add another piece (likely later, after BYC is no longer an issue).

Which in turn could allow them to add a 7mm expiring contract that will fall outside of BYC rules at the deadline?

Combine that with excess draft capital and this team will have a real 8-9 man rotation (depending on McCains development and Gordon’s health) for the playoffs.

Daryl Morey won the offseason

At this point can they flip a pick for a rookie scale player or do they need to wait until the season when they add minimus to the roster.

I assume the 2026 clippers pick and lessor of PHIl/Lac 28 will be dealt to upgrade this roster.

Health is a real concern, but if healthy, this is looking like the best team in the east

Whatever they sign KJ Martin for will stay till the deadline IMO, then it's traded for full contract value w/o BYC.
That's if they do sign him, that's tax money what he'll be signed for...

Sometimes agents misread the market.

Miamis offer was 4 years and $57.9mm (14.5mm ish per) on top of the 1 year, $7.1mm option. Pretty much the full mid level. Not sure if there would have been an option and whose option it would be, but worst case this would have been a 4 year deal in the range of $50mm.

Having said that, this becomes one of the more team friendly deals in the league.

The Celtics are still better IMO, but they at least have a team that can compete, with the potential to add more before the deadline with those picks+potentially KJ on a trade-able deal.

Solid bench piece for the sixers.

Seems like Miami tried to have him opt in and then sign a 5 year extension at $13M. Considering he'll be 29 before next season, and will be 34 going on 35 when that ends, he should've taken that and ran with it.

I'm not sure who Caleb Martin (or his agent) thinks he is.

I think senility is starting to kick in for Riley.

Very impressive work to build out a rotation by Morey.

And 4/32 is less than I thought he’d get. I feel like a few teams would’ve been happy to pay him close to the full MLE, if not more..
