That’s solid for Denver. They really need bench pieces.

I was sure he was going to the Sixers.

Filling a poor man's Jokic role as the backup 5 there? I can't imagine they'll be able to play together defensively.

Why would they. Gordon a solid proven 4?

Like the signing for Denver. They lost their depth the last two seasons. Saric can contribute and be an X factor shooting

Gordon doesn't play 48 minutes a night

Saric's decent and will help their backup C and perhaps a few backup PF minutes. I still only see one credible rotation guard on the entire roster though and I'm not sure they have any more money above vet min deals to offer.

Makes Nnaji's contract look even worse.

Yeah Saric is strictly a 5 on defense at this point.

Which begs the question given the Nuggets depth issues will a Nnaji trade be on the horizon? If so, then for who?

They have no picks to add to a trade because of the Stepien rule, so I think they are stuck with him unless a team has a similarly bad contract? Maybe they can offer a pick swap or their 2nds in 2025 & 2026 to swap him for someone like Jevon Carter?

Last season the Warriors had to play him with a center as the season went on because of rim protection issues. It didn't keep him on the court in the long run, but I'm not sure he is a 5 only. Maybe you can play him with Gordon and pretend he's a 5 while Gordon protects the rim.

If they are going to be stuck with him, then they better find a way to make this guy more playable to rehab his trade value if they deem it necessary to trade him down the line if they so choose.

That’s a nice pick up for Nugs.

I like him as a backup but seems like a luxury to spend on a guy who, at best, will get 8mpg in the playoffs

The fundamental issue with post-injury Dario is that he's nowhere near quick enough to guard 4s, but he doesn't really offer any rim protection, so it's tough to play him at the 5. It's a shame, he's still a very useful player on offense but it's just very difficult to build a lineup around him that doesn't struggle defensively.
I do think Denver is better equipped than most with Gordon, and it's ultimately not really relevant which one is the "4" and which is the "5"

Denver has Payton Watson off the banch who will play with Saric. Watson was one of the best wing shot blockers last season, also top in rim protecting numbers. Saric just has to bang with bench bigs, be in good position and box-out on D.
