Does anyone want Tyler Herro?

Turns only 25 in January
Has averaged over 20 ppg in 3 consecutive seasons

Contract is obviously the drawback.

But does anyone have any interest in Herro?

I'll save you the trouble; no, unless they can offload terrible contracts on us or give up no more than a second round pick or two.

Actual teams may feel differently, but that's the kind of response you'll get here

I see him as having positive value and would give up something from the Hornets to get him if the price was low. Maybe something like Josh Green (13 millionish for 3 years), Cody Martin (8 million exp), some small filler. Would throw in some 2nds or maybe heat 2027 pick returned for incentive.

Maybe MIL for Lillard.

The reason I like him is 3pt percentage is good, ft percentage is elite.

The reason I would pause is he averages 56 games per year and has a big contract.

I'd rather just wait and see on NSJ/Mann than lock down 90% of Terry Rozier on 120% of the contract for the next three years.

I'm admittedly not the biggest Green fan on planet earth either but at least he provides a different skillset from something we have duplicated like 5 times on our roster already.

I think it's going to be tough to find a fit. I just don't think his game is very in demand to the point where someone would want to give up value.

He can be a good playmaker/ball handler for a SG, but not a PG. So it can't be a team that already has the SG spot settled and slot him in at PG. That probably won't work, like PHX tried this past year even with better player in Booker.

He not an ideal backcourt partner for a smaller point guard because that creates a defensive liability.

You have to have good defenders at PG and SF to make up for him on defense.

At $29M it likely requires multiple rotation pieces or a key contributor to match salaries.

The new aprons and hard caps in general have teams less willing/able to trade for big salary players, particularly non-stars.

I think he'd ultimately fetch a decent return if moved. I just find putting together an actual deal to be difficult. I think he'd fit pretty well in NOP with Murray and Herb Jones to cover for him if they eventually do move Ingram (presumably for a stretch 5).

Hell yeah, very interested. How’s Lavine and Jevon Carter for Herro and Duncan Robinson fancy you?

I suggest sending him to SAS once Barnes can be moved.

Herro for Barnes (or Johnson)/Jones.
SAS gets the shooter they need and he can run the second unit with Castle.
Miami returns a veteran PF and a young PG on a 1-year deal.

This isn't a bad idea. Basically the Bulls and Heat are swapping poo poo platters which potentially fit their current needs.

He was shopped most of last offseason and the result was a pretty definitive "meh"

I don't think he did anything this year to change that analysis.

No. That contract is awful and it's not like we'd be getting our money's worth. We're better off keeping what we have. Duncan is incredibly useful and we shouldn't be paying what little positive value he has to make Chicago's life easier. They should be paying us to take that albatross.

That makes sense. I would do this.

I think SAS would rather have the vet presence in Barnes and his year less of contract than Herro.

Tyler really, really doesnt seem like a Pops guy either. On top of that, Pops has had a love for Barnes for years.

If we didn't have a million guards I'd be interested. He's a solid player, I don't think the contract is that bad.

I mean I think getting back good players on good contracts is tough. And I think getting back no money is now next to impossible. So best case probably is playable expirings and even then how many teams have that they want to give plus a nice asset for him?

IDK, I don't feel like the board's lack of enthusiasm for giving up better contracts plus assets for a good but not great player on a big deal who has had issues staying healthy is really unfair. We also know that we have had lots of reporting of the Heat working on big deals but needing to find a 3rd team for Herro and having no real luck doing so. So unless you know something we don't?......

I'd like the player in Dallas, though I wouldn't pay a premium. But the Mavs have no reasonable way to match his money without including both Gafford and Kleber and with you then wanting assets on top of that it very quickly makes no sense for Dallas. And I don't have to be some irrational hater to not give up 2 of the team's 4 playable bigs for a 3rd guard when the strength of the team is already two scoring guards.

I always thought something like Herro for Collins and a pick could work

But Sexton or Clarkson would have to go somewhere.

Unless it’s Duncan/Herro for Collins/Sexton

It seems silly now but on the KCP deadline for Herro..
I think Herro fits perfectly to the shortcomings I thought Orlando had, watching the Playoff vs CAVS (and I don't think KCP can cover except for shooting)...he also fits perfectly due to age..plus I've seen dozens of threads of A.Simons to MAGIC and Herro is a better and more complete player in my opinion... Allstar caliber player offensively..

Rozier/KCP/Butler/JJJ/Bam

KCP is the perfect type of veteran for a contender

Herro/Suggs/Wagner/PB/WCJ

Herro is not a point guard, but the Magic would have 4 guys in the starting five who can handle and create

There just isn't a reason for us to spend an asset to add him. He'd be competing with Sexton (who is better), George, Clarkson, and Collier for minutes. Certainly he is good enough to displace all but Sexton, but it's just poor resource allocation by us. If we were still in the Mitchell/Gobert era I'd be all over using a pick (or picks) and filler to add him and shift Donovan to point guard. He would have added a lot to that iteration of the Jazz!

I was going to propose something very similar. This pretty much nails the value all around, though.
