Detroit trade: Ivey, THJ
Detroit receive: Herro

Miami trade: Herro
Miami receive: CamJ

Brooklyn trade: Camj
Brooklyn receive: Ivey, THJ

Why for Detroit: add someone who can take some of the creation/scoring load off Cade and better space for him
Why for Miami: add more size and save some $$$
Why for Brooklyn: turn their vet into a prospect/former lotto pick at a position of need

add 2nds as needed

Bam
Jovic
CamJ
Butler
Rozier

Duren

I kinda think if the Pistons wanted Herro and were willing to give this up they would just skip around the Nets and do Herro for Ivey and THJ?

I think that's a better package than Cam Johnson. Herro is going to be 27 at the end of his contract, Cam will be 31. And the heat have a number of bigs right now

It’s a no from me, Detroit doesn’t have a need for Herro. If he was actually worth his contract Miami would want to keep him and it doesn’t seem like Langdon is trying to build the team up to be an inferior version of another

Imo Detroit don't really have a need for Ivey either. Herro is a better fit next to Cade. I think Herro is okay on his contract. He's a slightly better player than tobias whom you're paying almost as much money to

CamJ helps them win more than Ivey would. Ivey has a higher ceiling but if an when he reaches it it will be past butler's prime

I was onboard trading for Herro in another thread, but the cost was THJ and 4 seconds (and involved Portland, with Miami getting Jerami Grant).

I’m not against trading Ivey, but his value is more than four seconds. So, no here.

Easy no with Herro's contract and injury history. I'd not even sure how much I'd add to THJ in taking on that money. Maybe a couple 2nds at most. If Miami values all of that cap relief, sure, it could be worth the gamble. If not, he's probably better elsewhere. He doesn't solve the Pistons defensive issues, which would be the main reason to sell early/low on Ivey.

Detroit have enough bad defenders alread, we don't need to pay 30 mil/year for a guy that plays 0 defense.

I think the Heat needs to send a FRP to Detroit.

Not sure if that is enough but it would help.

I think Miami wants to keep him. There is a big difference between wanting to trade somebody and being willing to give someone up in a trade for Dame Lillard.

Unfortunately, I think you're right (I say unfortunately because I do want him gone). I also think the perception that we want to get rid of him, but for some reason cannot, has hurt his value on this board.

I don't think Detroit moves off of Ivey at this point without future draft capital being involved. We're in youth development and asset acquiring mode, not lock down our cap with mid-level talent mode.

Don't like this for detroit. Injury issues and that 3rd year are just too much. Also, if herro looks bad defensively in miami's system, can you imagine what he looks like in detroit?

I think you can easily get off Herro - just not for the return that Riley will want to do so. For example - Cam Johnson for Herro or Herro for Ivey doesn't really make sense for Miami. Herro plus draft picks for Dame Lillard would have.

I'm all for breaking him down into smaller pieces. Ivey and THJr would be awesome in my book. I'd be okay with Cam Johnson, though I'm less interested in him as I want our youth to play (Ware and Jovic). I just think Duncan Robinson is a better fit for us.

I agree, Riley sees him as more valuable than that, or as a piece to a larger deal. I just don't see that at this point.

Butler IS past his prime. Its the bam timeline that should be worked with. Imo they should keep herro and trade butler

Whether they want to keep him or not is kind of irrelevant, he’s an overpaid player that’s bad defensively and Detroit doesn’t have have enough two-way starters to make him fit so he’s not worth for Detroit. If Miami want to keep him, they wouldn’t trade him for this deal making the proposal void in the first place, but for the sake of discussion the answer is stil the same, no from Detroit.

To take this further, I think we are in the early stages but already seeing the changes in the CBA with apron concerns from teams being scared to trade for players that are simply not worth their contract unless they are seen as the final piece that will make them contenders. I’m not really sure where the equilibrium will be set in terms of risk and contract amount, but I think the New Orleans dilemma with Ingram is a good litmus test of this.
