Heat-Lakers

Post#1 » by ThaFranchize84 » Wed Jul 10, 2024 1:49 am

Both teams have not done much this offseason and might be looking to make some kind of infusion of outside talent. As soon as Russell opted into his contract it seems like the Lakers have been shopping him. The Heat have a glut at the 2/3 position.

Heat get D’Angelo Russell

Lakers get Duncan Robinson

Why?

Heat have a huge hole at the backup PG position. This move enables them to move Terry to the super 6th man role and start Russell next to Herro.

Lakers could always use elite shooting next to Lebron and AD. Robinson is the true definition of that. He would bring optimal floor spacing for the Lakers. Lebron can run more of a point forward and facilitator.

This deal I believe keeps both teams under the dreaded second apron. It opens up around $700,000 for the Heat to sign a vet min contract and fill their 15 roster spot.

Thoughts?

Due to Duncan having the additional year on his deal (ETO of $9 million) the Heat might be willing to deal the 2026 Lakers 2nd pick back in the deal if the value is a little off.

Don't see the point for either team. Heat already have Herro and Lakers need an upgrade over DLO not another one-way player.

D'Lo is close to an elite shooter but also a better playmaker than Robinson. If anything the Lakers need more playmaking, not less.

Yeah I dont see any interest from the Lakers part even if picks were attached. DLO is the better player, he is an expiring. Duncan has more years, has a bad back, has injury history and is not a good defender. For the Heat I love it because we get out of a player we have been trying to get rid of for years but this trade gets flat out rejected by the Lakers.

Yeah agreed with others..

Doesn't make much sense for Lakers.

They do value DLo, they just don't like his fit with Reaves and Reaves is the better player.
