Why though?

I mean he wasn't good with Atlanta and he can't play this season.

The only explanation is he’s a league average 3 point shooter in high volume, 25 years old, and has size. So I guess you’re hoping that on a mid level deal he’s a trade asset next year?

He hurt his ACL in March so not out of the question he comes back this year.

I love this. Bey is out for the year, but is easily worth more than $6.5 million a year when healthy, which is about what this is. When he's healthy he will be extremely tradeable.

$7M is so little, worth a shot

Yeah Washington is basically eating $7 in 2024-2025 and getting him at a solid deal for 2026 and 2027--which is when Washington is going to try and start being competitive.

I’m surprised someone gave him 3 years, and at more than the minimum.

He’s struggled both to stay on the court and to play effectively while there. And yeah, he’d basically dead money this year.

Team hires Troy Weaver and then they take a small risk on one of his draft picks. Him not being available won’t affect Washington, so I guess it’s fine

Given the situation it is perfect. Let him rehab this year, and if healthy and an increasing cap he will be an asset the next two seasons. Also, by giving him three years the Wizards or whoever trades for him will have full Bird rights.

Is he really out for the year though? its a 9 maybe 10 month injury.

Seems like a good idea for Washington.

He's not great but he's a full-sized wing and a credible 3-point threat. At something like half MLE money for the two years after this he's probably a bargain as a depth guy (either to keep or trade). The mostly dead-weight contract this year isn't really a problem.

Agreed. Was hoping that the Jazz might bite on him as they don't really need his on court production this season. Timing of the Lauri extension complicates things.

I dunno, folks. Look at his actual numbers. He hasn’t shot well except his rookie year and his brief stint in Atlanta to finish the 23-24 season. Really poor last year. His defense has never been good, as he lacks lateral quickness and has bulked up even more. He’s a solid rebounder for his position, but can’t create effectively or pass worth a damn — he’s a play finisher, but not even an average one.

I know Detroit traded him because he was an entrenched starter that they didn’t want to pay, and yeah, this is a lot less than he would have accepted in Detroit. But let’s face it, the dude kinda sucks.

I was afraid somebody would remind me of Flynn, TJ Warren, or Terrence Ross.

However, Sadiq is still young and has a nice frame 6-7, 215lb. He can improve and he will not be a target at the defensive end.

Saddiq hasn’t weighed 215 in a long time. Dude is a brick house these days.
