BKN/SAC- Redshirt Rookie for Cam Johnson

Post#1 » by TheBrooklynKidd » Fri Jul 12, 2024 4:39 pm

Kings Trade:
Kevin Huerter
Devin Carter

Nets Trade:
Cam Johnson
2025 1st (Worst of PHX/NYK/MIL)

With news that Devin Carter could miss the entire 24-25 season with a torn labrum, the Kings make a win now move to maximize the Sabonis/Fox/Derozan window. They also grab a 1st rounder in next year’s draft to help improve the roster further.

The Nets take a flier on a high character lottery prospect and tank happily while he recovers from surgery.

I don't think Cam is worth (essentially) a lottery pick.

Detroit will take that package from Brooklyn. Want that 2025 pick and then root hard against Phoenix all year

Thought this would be for Topic. Either way it's a fun idea, but I don't think Brooklyn needs to add the pick. Johnson is worth a mid first and Huerter is negative value on his contract.

Huerter may technically be negative (damn, why couldn't someone take him for 2nds instead of making us do that swap for Barnes - or maybe San Antonio had a monopoly on cap), but as an expiring and as someone scheduled to at least be a solid bench player who couldn't be replaced in the FA market on the court and who could bounce back to previous years of solid bball, not sure he would factor in here :D

With news that Devin Carter could possibly miss the entire 24-25 season with a torn labrum, the Kings make win now move by adding sharp shooting Cam Johnson at the 3/4 to maximize the Sabonis/Fox/Derozan window. They also grab a 1st rounder in next year’s draft to help further improve the roster.

Change Cam Johnson to DFS.
Take Carter out and also tbhe 1st going to Sac out.

Add McDaniels and a pick swap that favors Brooklyn.
..and now I think you're closer.

McDaniels and Huerter is too much salary for Brooklyn to take back since they’re close to the tax.

Since Huerter has a 2nd year on his deal, a swap likely won’t suffice for DFS.

Huerter is signed through the 25-26 season. Brooklyn won’t want him on the books.

I’m not sure if they will in this new CBA.

The pick included is unnecessary.

I have Huerter as positive. But I’m not saying I have a lot of company. That is on everyone else to decide.

I don’t know if he’s positive, but moving him wouldn’t be the impetus to make the trade from the Kings perspective I’m pretty sure. He should be a solid bench contributor and I’m not seeing the cap need at this point
