Knicks solve their center issue.
Hawks turn the center position over to Okongwu and try to shake things up with an energetic spark plug.

Did Capela go to Villanova? Seriously though Hart is much better.

I don’t think the Knicks have a center issue really.
Mitchell Robinson was fine until he got hurt.
Randle will play a ton of small ball center minutes.
Thibs plays his guys a lot of minutes.
Also, Hart will to Villanova and is friends with all these guys lol. Probably why Brunson took less so he can keep all his boys with him.

Can't see this happening IRL and don't think it would help us if it did. Capela looked really bad last year, so I'm skeptical that he'd provide better rim protection than just rolling with Achiuwa, Sims, & smallball-5 Anunoby, if Robinson misses a lot of time again.

Mitch is going to get hurt again. The question is will he miss ~50 games or ~20? If he only misses ~20 and we bring Achiuwa back, then we should be fine. Sims did a fine job when Mitch & IH missed games last year and Thibs has shown he trusts Achiuwa & Anunoby enough to play them as smallball 5s.
But if we get a ~30 game season from Mitch again, we'll need help unless Jericho takes a big step...I just don't think Capela provides much help anymore. He was a big part of Atlanta's defensive struggles behind the Young-Murray disaster.

Too late. Atlanta already submitted the trade details to the NBA office.

In theory - this is a very reasonable trade. NY would be moving off some wing depth in exchange for front court depth, which is needed. I do think given age and contract status Hart has more value, so that would need to be figured out. If I'm NY Hart for Capela and the SAC 1st that ATL has would work for me, even if I had to kick a 2nd rd pick back to ATL.
Now welcome to the new CBA. Josh Hart makes $4,121,280 less than Josh Hart. So NY would need to add a salary to the deal. In theory, NY should sign a guy on a 1 year deal for the full taxpayer MLE to make a trade like this an option at the deadline.
Then there is the whole Villanova thing but when push comes to shove, I think the Knicks will do what's best for the team.
