GSW send Wiggins to Raptors for Bruce Brown

Post#1 » by basketballwacko2 » Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:22 pm

GSW needs to rebuild, Curry wants to finish his career with the W's they should clear salary and still try to remain competitive. Wiggins is from Canada seems the Raps want players with Canadian ties.

I don't make a lot of threads or trade idea's but here we go:

GSW sends Wiggins max cash and 2 2nds to the Raps for Bruce Brown. The Warriors have Atlanta's 2026 and 2028 2nds. They could send a protected 2027 #1, they owe a 2030 #1 protected 1-20 to the Wizards. I'd suggest if it's a #1 the same top 20 protected would work and give the 2 ATL 2nds as well. If the 2027 #1 does not convey they would owe 2 more 2nds to the Raps, currently they only have the 2029 and 2031 2nds to commit for this.

So for the Raptors they get Wiggins, a top 20 protected #1 in 2027, 2 2nds and max cash from the Warriors for Brown. They get draft capital and Canadian player.

For GSW they get out of Wiggins long term deal and get Brown who can play 2/3 for them he's on a 1 year deal. And they save $3.2 million in salary and the corresponding tax hit.

i think GSW saves their assets to upgrade their roster instead of getting out of future money. if they want to save money this year can just dump payton/looney instead for less.

Yeah the Wiggins/Brown concept has been thrown around a lot this offseason and we've never really been able to come up with a version that satisfies both sides.

Does nothing for the Warriors. They can get out of the Lux tax much easier and cheaper by offering Looney or GP2s expirings (with those second round picks) into someone’s space.

Priority now is get Steph a #2 guy not give up assets to move Wiggins

Been reported GS doesn't need to add assets to lose Wiggins contracts which is betterbvalue as time passes

Wiggins for Poetl and Gary Temple

Wiggins is the Warriors best perimeter defender...they really shouldn't move to add another undersized player to their team

Pretty easy pass for the Warrior's I'd say. Better off keeping Wiggins and the picks.

I’d trade Lavert and Niang for Wiggins and a pair of 2nds.

Is Toronto really going to be willing to pay the tax for Wiggins?

Bulls already tried. They got shot down.

What’d they try Lonzo?

Depends on the Sasha outcome but if he's bought out at a low number, I'd straight up swap. I like Wiggins on the Raptors.

From an outsiders perspective I don't particularly like the swap for either team after the transactions this summer.

Warriors have shooting but it’s all in the backcourt. Where do they slot? They need more shooting from the frontline, Brown doesn’t help with that.

But if I’m the Raps, how does Wiggins fit next to Barnes and Poeltl? Not great. Again, lack of shooting from the front court would be rough.

Bulls offered lavine for wiggins/cp3. Warriors hung up the phone.
