Lakers get CamJ, Sexton
Lakers give DLo, Rui, Vando, LAL27FRP(unprotect exisiting), LAL29FRP(7-30)
Lakers upgrade their team and open up $4.6m to spend on a player from remaining FA.
Nets get DLo, Vando, LAL29FRP(7-30)
Nets give CamJ
Nets get a lightly protected FRP, DLo back and a big wing replacement for CamJ.
Jazz get Rui, LAL27FRP(unprotect exisiting)
Jazz give Sexton
Jazz get the Lakers 2027 FRP unprotected and an SF/PF.

Probably too good for the Lakers. If I'm the Nets and the Jazz, I'm looking for more.
It also leaves the the Lakers very thin at 4/5. Who is the FA they bring in for $4.6m to fix that?

Achiuwa would be a good target.
You think both Nets and Jazz are getting too little here? Could loosen protections for Nets but hard to improve Jazz deal with this structure

I wouldn't trade Sexton just to adjust those protections - not good value for us.

I thought Rui or DLo might make it happen.
What would it take in the OP scenario?
An SRP? A 2028 swap option?

Not sure jazz and sexton is needed.

Nets seem keen on DLo.
Lakers would need another perimeter playmaker and scorer.

Nets have no interest in DLo outside of his expiring contract. That’s an outdated rumor from the trade deadline when the Lakers were pursuing Murray and Dinwiddie had quit on the Nets.
But this is good for Brooklyn from a value perspective.

I thought this was Cam Thomas for a second and was losing my sanity, I don't think Johnson would be a huge upgrade from Rui considering the role the Lakers would have him in. Would prefer to save powder for a star.

Both are viewed as negative to neutral value in the league and I don’t want rui on his extension so I would take DLo, unprotecting 27, and an unprotected swap.

The Nets would need another pick as they do not value DLo as a player. They are trying to boost a youth movement on low salary guys before 2025's offseason.

No need for either. Our entire team is guards and power forwards. I'd consider for the protections removed and an unprotected swap in the distant future (say...2030).

Nothing in this trade is worth the draft capital the Lakers are giving up.
Are we sure Sexton on a contender is better than DLo?
How much of an upgrade is Cam Johnson from the combination on Vanderbilt/Rui?

Montrezl Harrell could return to be the backup 5 for a minimum contract.

The negatives for the Nets are - Vanderbilt's contract length, the protections on the 29 FRP, and Vanderbilt's shooting with Claxton. If I am the Nets, I am asking for Knecht since they are taking on a 4 year Vanderbilt deal (29% 3-point shooter). It is not much money, but the length of time is not ideal.

I see Johnson a wonderful 6th man. But his distance shooting alone make him better than Vanderbilt. Hachimura is a push.

Johnson would bring the Lakers into title contention. I do not see any other player that is "gettable" now on the trade market doing that.

Again - is Johnson a 1st rd pick better than the combination of Rui and Vanderbilt?

This seems so bad for LA.
Rui vs Cam doesnt feel too different to me. Rui is a better defender, Cam a better shooter.
Sexton vs DLO is meh as well. Two score first guards.
I wouldn't pay anything from LAL name to change jersey names with no real impact.
