INDIANA-ORLANDO-NEW ORLEANS

Indiana in: Herb Jones
Indiana out: Benedict Mathurin/Jackson

Orlando in: Benedict Mathurin
Orlando out: Wendell Carter

New Orleans in: Wendell Carter/Jackson
New Orleans out: Herb Jones

I feel Orlando needs to send a protected 1st out to Indiana but could be wrong.

Reasons are simple as it balances out each team and fills a need. Indy gets a defensive wing. Orlando get a scoring guard for their backcourt and New Orleans gets a quality big that should fit nicely next to Zion.

What does me being a fan of any team have to do with the trade proposal. I have the values.

Mathurin > Jones > Carter.

I acknowledge that Orlando probably owes a first here. If you think that needs to go to NO then explain why. And yes I know Jones was all NBA last year but I still have Mathurin as the higher ceiling player.

magic are not in need of mathurin ..but are in need of wcj ..so magic pass..sure would not add a first of any kind ..pass straight up

edit there would have to be multiple trades to send out guard and get magic starting center for this to work

New Orleans could get WCJ without moving Herb though. Elite defensive players have significantly more value.

I think you'd find that, outside of Pacers/Magic/Pelicans fans, many would see it as I do

Jones >>> Mathurin >= WCJ

Jones is a plug-and-play two-way wing who starts right now on any team not named the Celtics -- plus he is locked up on a NTMLE level contract for 3 seasons. As others have said, he has more value than all the other players mentioned in the trade combined.

Orlando has one starting level center and multiple starting level guards.
Mathurin would not start on the magic, there is chance he would not even make rotation all.
Jones>>Carter>Mathurin

Personally, I don't think NO & Orl are good trading partners, and I believe such a deal would need a 3rd team.

If we cut Indy out, what do you think a solid proposal would be from NO to Orlando?

Orlando has basically zero good trading partners for WCJ. He is simply one of the best pick-and-pop bigs in the league, plays solid defense, and he just turned 25 years old.

Not only that, but he has great chemistry with our guys, our FO values continuity, and he's on a cheap contract through next season - when we'll likely extend him.

The Magic would probably move him for an upgrade, not more parts. I could see Orlando being interested in a player like JJJ, but I can't imagine Memphis being willing to trade him.

Mathruin is a really great prospect and worth more than WCJ IMO.

But he’s not what Orlando needs. They would be looking to flip Mathurin (or their own depth) for a center. The value win might be worth it, but not without the center deal lined up..

And WCJ isn’t worth close to Herb and Herb should be the last one traded out of Ingram/Trey/Herb.

So I don’t see this working for the other two teams.

Turner expires next summer and finding money for him and Nembhard without going into the apron won't be easy. losing their possible replacements doesn't make sense to me.

That's a bad deal for Indiana. I like Jones but this looks like a huge over pay.

This deal looks like one of those special offers that no one likes.
