No complaints. The team needed another ball handler and plug in PG with Kyrie having availability issues and Exum having sucky disappearing issues, and injury ones himself.

its fine. He's more confident offensively than Exum. He will come in handy when Luka and Kyrie combine to miss 30+ games. But then what's really the point of Jaden Hardy. If they don't trust him in that role, he shouldn't have a roster spot.

IMO this is a pretty significant get for this point in the offseason. He can be a 2nd option whenever Luka or Kyrie go to the bench.

If Hardy is good enough, he'll play. If he can't outplay Spencer Dinwiddie this season, at least you'll know not to invest any money in Hardy going forward.
Dinwiddie as your 4th or even 5th guard on a vet min salary is pretty good value, isn't it? I'm far from his biggest fan, and don't think he'll make a playoff rotation, but still look at him as a good depth piece on a contender.

Dimwiddie wasn't a vet min player when he left Dallas, less than 18 months ago, no idea what happened to him in Brooklyn, he's a CBA casuality, Kidd has a lot of egos to manage now, not Kidd's strong suit IMO.

He ain’t bring his shooting with him when he left Dallas. Plays like he older than 31 now. Still think great vet min deal.

One thing that may be a bit worrisome is that DInwiddie was said to be hated in the Washington locker room but a good chunk of the team while he was there. Gafford was on that team, so wondering if there's any beef there? If so, Gaff is obviously the guy you roll with.

I like the pickup tho it makes Kidd and the coaching staffs job harder. Grimes activity and defense will work his way into the rotation, Klay is the big offseason pickup and exum, even with the terrible playoffs, was very valuable for them in the RS. Thats not mentioning Kyrie/Luka obv
Gonna be some tough decisions.

I mean I would love for you to be right, but I am not at all worried about Dallas having too many good guards lol. First, Dallas can play 3 of them together because Luka is defending up the lineup anyway and Klay is probably better suited to defend SF's and stretch 4's than he is the guards he used to defend for Steph. Dinwiddie and Exum are both big guards as is Grimes.
But mostly, I don't think any of Klay, Dinwiddie, Grimes, Exum, Hardy are locks to be consistent night in and night out performers. Grimes is living off a 2 year old rep where he wasn't even that good(worse than much reviled Josh Green for instance).
And despite the talk itt, this is actually one of Kidd's real strengths. Rick Carlisle struggled with player relations and communicating clearly about roles. Kidd doesn't have that issue at all.

We'll see, but i like Grimes and Klay a whole lot beside Luka. Dante had an excellent RS until he lost confidence in his shot and Dinwiddie was a valuable piece for the Mavs, beside Luka in this same environment (3rd playmaker guard behind Luka and another star under Kidd). Luka's size does allow for more lineup variability tho, true.
And i disagree with Green/Grimes comparison. Green is putting up metrics that say he shouldnt get minutes on good teams and Grimes was putting up positive value metrics at 22 on the Knicks before last season. Maybe he doesnt get back there, but Knicks Grimes is head and shoulders above Green, imo.
