Doubt Jones’ agent wants his name on this one.

Wow! I'd love to know the sequence of events that led to this...

He thought he would get starter money for a decent team, no one wanted him to start, teams engaged other players and rosters filled up (money dried up.) This is the likely sequence of events that cost Tyus 12-15 million.

WOJ confirms Tyus starting. I wonder if Beal will take Gino’s role off the bench

Suns have had a good offseason considering what they had to work with. Ishbia ain’t afraid of paying the tax

Think Allen goes to the bench. Pretty deep. Defense is TOUGH.

Ishbia - “We can offer you a minority stake in United Wholesale Mortgage”

Jones - “okay”

Something along those lines.

I think the starting PG and C are still below average, and the bench is below average. They should find a way to use the 2031 first to upgrade one of the starting spots, that would help a lot.

As a vet min, this is really great.

Not a Suns fan, so you'd know better than me... but that seems crazy. Beal and Booker seem too similar in style, where Allen opens things up for Book and KD. Beal is the perfect 6 man to come in and run things as long as you don't peek at his contract.

Also, I think this move keeps them well ahead of the Lakers and Warriors, I had them fighting it out with the Warriors, Lakers and Rockets for the bottom spots in the playoffs/playin. Perhaps foolishly considering their record last season. West is brutal next season.

Nah. That’s a pretty clear and specifically outlined violation of the CBA.

Most likely, his agent overplayed his hand, and they recovered by taking a vet minimum for one year somewhere he can start and fit in perfectly, while getting a TON of eyes on him.

I’d assume Beal starts, but is subbed off first for Allen, and then comes back in early to feature when Booker/Durant are subbed out. I can’t imagine Beal, or the other stars, are going to take it kindly to Beal getting benched, even if it makes sense.

I’m actually excited to see Allen in the sixth man role. Suns needed scoring off the bench and while Grayson is a killer from deep, his scoring ability is underrated.

Beal actually might be better suited to the spot up guy role. He show 43% from deep last season. His ability to put it on the floor in close out situations is just a plus in that scenario. Allen as the sixth man will be fun. He has game.

Dang, I thought the Wiz would sign him to a 3-4 year descending deal as trade bait when we hadn't heard anything by now. Suns is a headscratcher though. Not a true contender, nor a good opportunity for starting with Beal and Booker in the backcourt.

Had to check to see if his agency was Klutch :) Next offseason should be interesting at least.

I agree with this and especially your last 5 words; it just makes so much sense to have Allen at the 3 and Beal first off the bench at the 2. Would at least give him a chance to stay healthy for the playoffs.
