NYK / HOU - an overpay worth making?

NYK trade / HOU receive: Randall
HOU trade / NYK receive: Sengun, Brooks
Why this trade works for the Knicks: The team flourished in the playoffs with Brunson and his 3&D Villanova squad. With the addition of Bridges this summer, they need a center more than Randall. Sengun has the potential to be an all-star in a few years. Thins will love Brooks’ D. Their new lineup:
PG…Brunson…McBride
SG…DiVincenzo…Hart
SF…Anunoby…Brooks
PF…Bridges…Achiuwa
C…Sengun…Mitchell
Why this trade works for the Rockets: They have a lot of young players who will need to be paid, starting next season. This trade swaps one of them for a player who can help them make the playoffs this year. And, they played better last year with Smith Jr. at C. Their new lineup:
PG…VanVleet…Thompson
SG…Green…Sheppard
SF…Whitmore…Eason
PF…Randall…Green
C…Smith Jr…Adam
Thoughts?

Why are HOU trading their starting center?
Why are NYK bring in a $20 M wing when they are set there.

Please delete this before a Rockets fan sees it. I beg you.

So Rockets are going to have to start paying their good young players so the remedy is to trade for a 30 year old that is expiring and likely expects a 10 year max to resign? I would have the Rockets with zero interest in this trade, let them continue down their rebuild/development path this year and they will have a opportunity to use max space still before all their players are fully paid next year. That route makes a lot more sense than going after a guy like Randle now.
Smith is not a center either, spot minutes sure but he cannot hold up to big minutes.

Sengun is already much better than Randle by himself.

I know the best thing to do for asinine takes is to ignore it, but certain takes deserve tomatoes to be thrown.

Rockets hang up and immediately call to make an appointment with their therapist to try and recover from this attempted assault.

I really, really want to know if OP thinks it's an overpay from NYK or HOU.

Don’t see this being a good fit for either team

He’s younger, but younger and better are very different.

Just cause they’re from Texas doesn’t mean they are all snowflakes.

The Knicks could add the city of New York, the entire city, and the Rockets would still say no.

Not at the expense of losing Sengun.

i’d agree that for where the rockets are now it doesn’t make sense. but it does sound like they want to compete sooner rather than later and sengun might be a guy they see as trade bait for an already established star. they can do much worse than a 2x all nba guy in his prime. you got folks in here saying sengun is better than randle when the rockets played better when sengun got hurt this season lol

What does Randle give them that Sengun doesn't that would make them want to take on a much older and more expensive player on an expiring deal?
