I'm surprised Cam Johnson is still in Brooklyn, who from the looks of it, are attempting to accumulate assets and cut salary.
Brooklyn in: Lonzo Ball, PDX 2025 1st (lottery protected through 2028), SAC 2026 & 2027 2nds
Brooklyn out: Cam Johnson
Chicago in: Cam Johnson
Chicago out: Lonzo Ball, Torrey Craig, and PDX 2025 1st (Lottery protected through 2028)
Sacramento in: Torrey Craig
Sacramento out: 2026 and 2027 2nds
Why for Brooklyn?
They continue trading current players for expiring contracts and picks. The Portland pick has 4 more chances of converting as a fist rounder. Pick up 2 additional 2nd round picks as well.
Why for Chicago?
Add size and 3-point shooting in Johnson, who was also college teammates with Coby White so hoping for some instant synergy there.
Why for Sacramento?
Craig fits into their TPE and provides 3&D and size from the wing positions. Effectively replacing Harrison Barnes whom they lost in the DeRozan trade.

I think this is a good deal for Brooklyn but I’d be surprised if the other teams agree.
Chicago seems to be doing a sneaky tank while Sac probably wants to keep their powder dry for a more impactful move.

Bad for the Bulls to take on a $21M long term SF when they still have Lavine and he's going to end up starting there out of position. Giddey, White and Dosunmu take most of the guard minutes so Lavine can't slide back there very often. Trading Craig just forces them to play Phillips or Buzelis more behind Williams.

Seems like BRK can get more for Cam
Love it for Chicago-the Port pick is not very valuable (I think it will be a 15-18 pick in 2027 or 2028)

This is not enough for Cam Johnson. Lonzo likely is done for good, and they only get a lottery protected 1st? WTF??

Leave the Kings out of this one. If they're involved in a Cam Johnson trade he would be arriving in Sacramento IMO.

Johnson can play PF minutes (especially at the size Chicago tends to run at forward). The bigger issue is whether Chicago is trying next season. They owe a top-10 pick and it would really be better if they kept it.

Re: BRK | CHI | SAC: Cam Johnson to Chicago
Chicago isn't tanking.
They're trying to get younger and seem content to let the chips fall where they may.
We go through the same cycle every year of falling in love with prospects a year out. This time last year Matas Buzellis was the sure-fire #1 pick, when it came time for the actual draft he went 11th.
You already have reports today of people starting to throw water on Cooper Flag, comparing him to Andre Kirilenko. Hardly a franchise changing player you need to tank for.
When it comes to Cam Johnson in this equation - some might fall on different sides if 28 is considered young.
Also fine if people think the value is too low. I'm just surprised he's still on Brooklyn.

Cooper Flagg is a couple tiers above Buzelis as a prospect. He’s compared to Kirilenko because of his physical build and elite shot blocking at the forward position. Offensively he’s far more polished than kirilenko was.
I’m not too surprised Cam Johnson is on the roster. It’s the middle of summer so people are on vacation.
Also any team that is interested in Cam is more interested in Markkanen. I expect Cam to be moved shortly after Markkanen is extended.

Re: BRK | CHI | SAC: Cam Johnson to Chicago
Torrey Craig to the Kings is an absolute joke. We need a real PF, we already have enough 6' 5" players... and we definitely don't need a can-you-call-him-washed-if-he-was-never-that-good, mid as hell 33 year old Torrey Craig.
Also, pretending that there's anything to replace after getting rid of Harrison Barnes tells me you've not watched a Kings game for at least a full season.
