Can the Pelicans buuild around ...

Murray, Jones, Murphy? And maybe Missi?

The Pelicans it seems are content on trading Ingram. But what if they traded both Ingram and Zion? I get letting this year play out with Murray coming on board.

October trade date:
Pelicans send Ingram/Williamson/JRE
Pelicans receive Brooks, Sengun, Saluan, Bridges, Green,2- 27 FRPs, 28 FRP/30 FRP
Pelicans begin a phase where they are not fearing the next Zion injury. They get a center to play with Missi, a less expensive Ingram in Bridges, additional defense in Brooks, and a young talent to grow.
Murray/Jones/Brooks/Bridges/Sengun with Salaun/Murphy/McCollum/Missi/Theis
Big cost in moving Williamson but the injury history, eh.

Rockets send Sengun/Brooks/Griffin
Rockets receive Ingram
Ingram gives Whitmore and Thompson an additional year to improve without needing to be a focal point. With a healthy Adams, who does not need the ball to be effective, and back ups in Landale and JBS, Sengun's lack of defense can be moved. Ingram can be a S&T at the end of the year.

Charlotte sends Green/Salaun/Bridges/2 - 27 FRPs/28 FRP/30 FRP
Charlotte receives JRE/Griffin/Williamson
Zion goes back to NC. The cost is large in picks but the return could be great. Ball/Willaimson/Miller make a formidable young group.

The question is, could a team built around Murray/Jones/Murphy win (without Zion/Ingram)?

I just don't see Griffin doing anything like this. His successor might, but I don't think he has that kind of runway.

That aside, Ingram pretty clearly has a soft market given his contract expectations. Sengun would have to tell the Rockets he intends to sign a max offer, and a max offer only, for the Rockets to even consider including him.

The Hornets are going to want an injury history discount on Zion which is why I think it's going to be really difficult to find an acceptable trade.

The Rockets already turned down Sengun for Ingram. In real life.

Everybody knows that you are trolling with these Rockets trades.
Time for you to find another shtick.

Why would anyone team sign up to pay Zion to play 30 games a year.

What are you talking about?

You are so open with admitting you watch no basketball aside from Portland. Im glad you don't pretend like you know about the NBA aside from Portland.

Yawn.

Paying a guy max or near max money to play less than half his games is not a template for success.

Even you should be able to understand that.

Zion played in 70 games in 2024. In 2021 he played in 61 games.

This year is going to be a big tell if he can play in 60+ games or not consecutively, but it is important to know [which you clearly don't] Zion played in a majority of games this most recent season.

What team wants to take on that salary for a part time player?

You must be an optimist. You would want your team to make a move for him, right?

Yeah I'd trade for Zion if the price is right.

I also understand the details of his contract, do you?

Oh, you don't?

40% of 2025-26 salary becomes guaranteed if plays >= 41 games during 2024-25 season, additional 20% if plays >= 51 games, remaining 20% if plays >= 61 games.
Salaries for 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons can be re-guaranteed if above metrics are hit the season prior

Just admit you didn't know Zion played 70 games last year.

Just admit you didn't know Zion's deal isn't fully guaranteed.

I know Zion played most of his games last year. Seem to remember an unfortunate playoff injury.

Heard about his contract (smart move) but had forgotten it.

Would never happen but an interesting idea. That team seems a bit small with Senguen/Bridges starting at 5/4.

If we were moving Williamson I think a bigger central piece need to come back.
