Best Under $12M Player for Sixers Assets

Morey recently mentioned in an interview that the Sixers were willing to make a trade after they secured PG that would've brought the Sixers payroll to $315M in two seasons. In addition, he said ideally they would use their assets now to win.
Based on this info and knowing Morey, I'm guessing he'll either take a big swing or hold onto the assets. Wondering if there were any big swings that might be out there. Note that the player must be making <$12M. Granted this could probably go to $15M if there was the right move that required it.
They would be looking for a big wing or forward. If neither are available, I could see them swinging for a big G. The ideal player would be a super role player that could fit with their core and ideally on a multi year deal.
The ideal candidate fo me would be someone like Herb Jones. The hard part is probably going to be finding teams that just want picks for a really good player.
Anyway here are their assets. Let me know if it might be enticing to any team.
KJ Martin ($8M)
Jared McCain ($4M)
Up to 5 FRPs + 3 FRP Swaps per their FRPs below.
‘26 PHI FRP
‘26 OKC FRP
‘28 LAC FRP
‘28 PHI FRP
‘29 PHI FRP
‘29 LAC FRP (Swap)
‘30 PHI FRP
‘31 PHI FRP

I mean if you're talking about all those firsts, the Pelicans should absolutely move Herb Jones for that. The Sixers shouldn't, but the Pelicans can flip a couple of them for Thybulle and pocket the rest.

Pels just traded for Murray to compete now. doesn't make sense to dumb Herb for picks right after doing so

I get that, but real talk Murray isn't taking them to the Finals. I don't think Morey offers five firsts and three swaps for Herb Jones, but if he does, you take it. It's too much of an overpay to turn down, especially with the Sixers window being limited by PG's age and Embiid's health.

I think Morey will be aggressive. I don’t think all five picks are necessary for what Philly needs. They have 3 true stars locked up, and one is an MVP level player.. they need roleplayers. Herb is a great example, I’d overpay for him but not with all five picks obviously.
I think they look at 3rd-4th year guys and overpay for one. Houston fans won’t like it but Eason makes a ton of sense in Philly as their overpay last piece..

I'd say that is my hope as a Sixers fan. Be willing to spend a few, but not all of them for a few premium targets Herb, Eason, Keegan Murray, etc.). Wasn't sure how realistic that is though.

Take-backs on Thybulle?

Keegan and Herb are probably realistically off limits. Sure, if you offered all those assets - NOP should take it laughing..
But Eason feels like he should be less untouchable? Tari isn’t on their level IMO, Houston has a hopefully better player at same position.. and Houston isn’t as win now as either of those teams.. It would still call for an overpay, but a reasonable one.

Eason feels like he'd require more assets than his immediate contribution to a Sixers team gunning for titles would justify. I can't think of an appropriate veteran making under $12 million, though.

I think he’d play 30mpg and be an impact on defense. And help keep them under the second apron next season. Then 2026-2028 is two years over the second apron with minimal penalties due to it being a short run.
That’s why I would target 2nd-3rd year guys with high floors. Only want to go over the second apron for two years of PG’s deal if I can help it.. Not sure how much I’m suggesting.. Just a lot?

I am probably Thybulles biggest fan. I would have to move him for a FRP as POR is in no position to make optimal use of his talents.

$12M is a really tight constraint. Extend that budget by trading away replaceable guys like Gordon, Reggie, and for bigger deals, Oubre/Caleb. Players worth trading multiple 1sts aren't typically hanging around that $12M range and are now more like double of that.

No thanks. I could see him as a possible buy low candidate if theres no big swing available. Even then though, he would be way down the list.
Feel like Avdija would have been a great target. Unfortunately Washington already moved him and I assume Portland will either want a major overpay or they'll politely decline.

This makes sense. The hard part about the minimum players is that they make such a low salary that for $17M, you're talking about like a 4-for-1 deal which seems very unlikely.
I would say Oubre could be included in the deal if the right player came along as he's pretty much on a one year deal. That would bring the value up to $20M, so that would probably be considered for the right deal. If you make that move though, you're probably going into the second apron so I'd have to look to see if anybody in that range would be worth it.

Why? So they can sit on their assets and glow in the feeling of having won the trade as they head into the lottery?

Pay Ingram and tell yourself you picked him over Herb because of the silly overpay?
Use 1-3 firsts to turn CJM into an above average center? Duck the tax one last year, clearly be a playoff team, and be at an asset surplus in case the opportunity arises to upgrade Ingram or DJM to a higher level secondary star?

Torres Craig and Jevon Carter would be handy depth for the Sixers, wouldn't cost a great deal either.

Yeah, 12 is really tight. Even going up to $16M brings in possibilities like
1. DFS from BRK at $14.9
2. Beef Stew from DET at $15.0
3. Avdija from POR at $15.6
If you're keeping it under $12M and trading with teams that will want picks rather than players,
pickings are very slim. Teams that have a player on a rookie contract that is a win-now player rarely want to trade them because of contract control, so realistic options include
4. Larry Nance from ATL
5. Thybulle from POR
6. Boucher from Toronto
7. Grant WIlliams from Charlotte
Of these, Nance is the only one I'm sure is better than Paul Reed who PHI just let go.
If none of those 7 appeal, you're looking at buying high and overpaying for someone like Taylor Hendricks, Isiah Jackson or Ousmanne Dieng and hoping they don't fade and drop out of the playoff rotation.
I think PHI should increase their target salary and pay for someone like DFS, Stewart or Avdija who will actually make a difference in the next playoff run. Otherwise, what's the point -- they should have just kept Reed

Good feedback.
Love BBall Paul, but he's a center and they were able to get a more suitable backup in Drummond for a few mil less. Also, because he was already eating up cap space they wouldn't have been able to sign Caleb Martin without waiving him.
I do like the names you mentioned and I imagine the names you brought up will at least be backup plan targets.
Do you think Santi Aldama or Simone Fontecchio would be available. They seem like decent options as well.
