That second trade is a complete robbery by Portland, How do they get two firsts to dump Ayton, while landing CJ, who has value? Those picks should be going to NO

CJ seems fairly neutral.
What about him makes you thinks he holds value?

I actually like Port's core a lot now with Henderson, Sharpe, Deni and Clingon. Tons of potential there. Simons makes a perfect 6th man, and they still have Thybulle, Ayton, RWill and Grant.
As a Bulls' fan, I could see them playing better than we think and possibly even sneaking into the Playin. I know the West is tough, but a few injuries and Henderson playing better would be a huge jump in wins for them. Deni is a winning addition, and they have depth.

I see him in the Herro range - he's older but with a better contract - someone would probably give a protected first and some okay salary/expiring deals for him. I see Ayton as an absolute negative deal.

The Blazers are trying to trade Simons to open playing time for Scoot/Shaedon, and cut salary.
The last thing they need to do is add Wiggins or CJ

I tried to +1 this post but had already done so. It’s worth +2.

I don’t see Sacramento having any interest in Grant anymore, especially not giving up a 1st when he’s due $30m this year with $2m raises each of the next 3 years. If Portland and LA pull off a Grant trade though, they’ll likely be bringing in 2 more players than they send out. So I think Sac would be willing to do something around Huerter for Murray + Thybulle / Williams, still without any 1sts involved.

Colbini can rest easy that SAC is trading the other McDaniels . . . but that first trade overvalues Grant IMO. I don't think you get a FRP for him unless he comes with bad money, and SAC is sending a bunch of mostly neutral stuff
As for the other trade, I think POR ends up with draft compensation it doesn't deserve for moving Ayton, while simultaneously risking a good tank job. You put GP2, Wiggins and McCollum on a team with Avdija, a healthy (?) RWiliams and some raw-but-talented youngsters, and the resulting POR team just might be in the too-good-to-tank tier with UTA/TOR/ATL/CHO

I bet the Blazers hold on to Ayton and bring Clingan off the bench to develop him. If the Blazers trade Grant and Simons this year, Ayton will be the focus of the offense, and maybe it'll drive his value up next year when he's an expiring contract.

Both are easy yeses for this Blazers fan. We turn 3 guys we should be hoping to eventually move for 3 decent 1sts, McDaniels, and some other flippable players? Yes yes. We would then need to work quick to move Wiggins and CJ for developmental minutes sake, but it doesn’t matter as I don’t see Blazers realistically pulling these trades off.
